Darthrevan Supercharged June 1, 2013 Share June 1, 2013 Kept an extra pair of eyes on the road lately? From June onwards, modified road markings at five zebra crossings in Ang Mo Kio, Jurong West, Sin Ming Road and Bukit Meral Central will remind pedestrians to look out for oncoming vehicles before they cross. Other new measures introduced by the Land Transport Authority (LTA) include signs reminding right-turning motorists to give way to pedestrians at the junction of Rivervale Lane and Rivervale Drive and the junction of Hougang Avenue 4 and Upper Serangoon Road. Said Parliamentary Secretary for Health and Transport Muhammad Faishal: "It is incumbent on the driver to always look out and be alert to pedestrians and other vulnerable road users...Let us make safety a priority so that we can make it home safely everyday to our loved ones." Darthrevan Supercharged June 1, 2013 Author Share June 1, 2013 Expressway Familiarisation Ride course compulsory for learner rider Starting from Saturday, those learning to ride motorcycles must attend a compulsory Expressway Familiarisation Ride (EFR) before they can obtain their Class 2B licence. The course was previously offered as an optional module. Parliamentary Secretary for Health and Transport Associate Professor Muhammad Faishal Ibrahim announced this at the launch of Singapore Ride Safe 2013. He said the 100-minute EFR course will help new riders to better manage the demands of riding on expressways. The riders will be taught the correct techniques to accelerate and decelerate in and out of expressways, change lanes and overtake other vehicles. He also said five more locations at residential areas with a high proportion of elderly residents will soon have "LOOK" markings. Toothiewabbit Supersonic June 1, 2013 Share June 1, 2013 Its actually quite astonishing that we are NOT teach to drive on Expressway in driving classes. Maybe this explain we are so bad on expressway. It is because of the same reason (dangerous road conditions on expressways) that learner drivers could not be risked driving on it. Penknife 5th Gear June 2, 2013 Share June 2, 2013 if there wasn't a need for learners to take a course on expressway familiarity, why mandate it after so many years? our tolerance for poor driving habits and inability to maintain good driving habits has been increasing, which is why it is now necessary for such courses. ↡ Advertisement
