we used to do that when i was young many many many years ago. The favorite car was Mitsubishi then (duno why Mit, we even take the word out [laugh] ) , so when i could find anymore Mitsubishi emblem in Singapore (apparently many people were stealing!), i went to KL and came back with about 20-30 of them [sweatdrop] [sweatdrop]

 

Didn't know they still do it now, you can buy them off the shelve now.

Two men were charged on Tuesday with 15 counts of mischief by removing the emblems of vehicles.

 

Timothy Cheong Zhan Yuan, 25, and Jamie Koh Guan Hoe, 37, are alleged to have ripped the emblems of 14 cars at the basement carpark of Tanamera Crest condominium at Pari Dedap Walk in Changi on Dec 12 last year.

 

In two of the cases, they also allegedly removed the vehicles' wheel caps. The last charge accuses them of removing the front and rear emblems of a black BMW car at the basement carpark of Grand Park Orchard Hotel on Dec 14. The total cost of repairs amounted to $1,306.

 

Both indicated that they wished to make restitution. Cheong's case will be mentioned on June 14, and Koh's on June 13. The maximum penalty for mischief is one year's jail and a fine on each charge.

Jaguar, Bentley Flying B and Mercedes 3 point star were (and still probably) the most expensive emblems to replace when it used to happen in my area 10-15 years ago....can't believe still happening!

 

Most commonly found Honda cars to be missing badges though

Tot Merc was the fav hit list? Lol

I like to test whether the merc emblem is real or fake by tilting and bending the logo. :D Heard if the emblem is real, you can bend the logo without breaking it. If not it will break into half.

Maybe these people just steal for fun?! [:p]

 

Yeah i think so too.. Recently had my "type r " badge stolen right outside my house.. Stolen still ok, can buy again.. But they use penknife to scrape out the badge, and end up scratching the paintwork quite badly.. [knife]

i already say i only 'took' the Mitsubishi lor...... and that was in the early 80s, that time Lancer very hot, everywhere can see one [:/] [:/]

Merc 3 pointed star hood emblem used to get stolen like crazy. Just unscrew it.

 

Now it has a spring n not so easy to steal. Same wh RR. Changed to spring.

 

Now RR emblem now even better. U off engine n it retracts into e hood.

All make of plastic ... [:(]

 

In the 60's, 70's and early 80's, they are made of shinning chrome metal ... -_-
