any explaination why ostrich always put it head into the ground when facing with danger ? :slow:

MYTH: OSTRICHES BURY THEIR HEADS IN THE SAND

 

FACT: Here's another alleged animal habit that has given us a figure of speech. Since Roman times, ostriches have been said to be so dim that they react to danger by sticking their heads in the ground.

 

They've thus become a metaphor for humans who refuse to accept reality, preferring to ignore the truth, like children sticking their fingers in their ears and crying: 'Na-na, I can't hear you!'

 

In fact, however, ostriches react to danger in the most sensible, obvious way available to a flightless bird capable of running at 40mph. They skedaddle.

 

So where does the myth come from?

 

Well, ostriches swallow sand and pebbles to help grind up food in their stomachs. This means they have to bend down and briefly stick their heads in the earth to collect the pebbles. Bingo! Another false myth is born.

Haiz sad to see ppl jumping to conclusion based on a "cropped" photo... From my observations, the train doesn't seem to be crowded and most likely the old uncle very KPO want to see what she was reading...  :XD: and the lady looked annoyed; was sitting sideways to avoid him from reading it...  :yuush:

maybe another 'made-up' story? maybe this was an non service train and the uncle is the cleaner waiting for the workers to alight before he start cleaning  :o  :o

A fully abled bodied, well functioning man sitting on the reserved seat was kindly & politely asked by me if he may offer the seat to a woman struggling with a baby boy strapped to her chest.

'Its my choice and I am NOT giving up my seat to her' he replied me in actual words.

'But you do understand the seat you're on is for the needy ones', I explained.

'So what, its my choice & I'm tired after work', he replied nonchalantly.  

'Then I am embarrassed to be standing in front of you.' I said.

'You shouldn't be, cos I am not even embarrassed of myself!'

Dead silence in the cabin and everyone's disgusted stare was upon him.

I never once slammed anyone in public before but today, I really mean it when I tell you that you need to lose your weight and your tiredness is a result of your obesity, not an EXCUSE FOR REFUSING TO GIVE UP YOUR SEAT TO THE MOTHER & CHILD!!l

This is a frustrating incident, not a stressful one.

 

Anyway kudos to the lady who spoke out. I personally have seen such inconsiderate people taking up the reserve seat, while those who need it, were left standing....
