After 3 recent election losses, they have to do something drastic. But i think they are quite stupid to think licensing can stop news. Ppl can always go forum, blogs n whatever it is, ppl know licensed media is all bias.

rise of the new age Iron Curtain!

haha, interesting take.

The following is an acute observation from chinese netizen , not sure how relevant to us in the next decade.

btw, pm pls don't quote this in next meeting with obama hor, not really appropriate, and not really funny.

Hypersonic

This is only the 1st step. Very soon will include other Singapore websites. Any that try to report sg news will need a license

Supercharged

That's the whole point -

It seems a stewput move. Those that are trying to do a good and honest business will get "pinged" - those that are "not liked" by the authorities can be caused problems, and those truly nasty and subversive won't be affected at all.

Seems a totally irrational way to go about things

what I find stupid is:-

they claimed news website are the ones needing to adhere to this. are sites reporting news called news website or are there official directories of news websites?

if it is the former it is quite stupid. forums, blogs and facebook also discuss and report Singapore news. if you leave these sites out, controlling the other "official news reporting sites" are quite farcical.
