If the govt. wants to control gambling, then they should start with the 4D/Toto outlets first.

Now even many outlets are set up next to schools and other education schools which was

not allowed previously. The Govt should levy every person buying 4D/Toto a minimum of $10

per purchase. ( more revenue hor )

Absolutely right !

Limit the amount a person can buy 4d/toto for each draw and also ban newspapers from advertising the TOTO 5M/10M angbao prize.

47 Singaporeans went bust every month last year

(09-25 18:46)

Gambling was partly responsible for driving an average of 47 Singaporeans into bankruptcy every month last year.

Media reports in the island citing the Ministry of Law said 572 Singaporeans declared bankruptcy last year and 11 per cent of them said they became penniless as a result of speculative activities such as share trading, horse racing, sports gambling and gambling at casinos.

Reported in today ST....

Only 7.7% of Singaporean or PR visited either one or both casinos after 3 yrs of operations.

So the other 92.3% did not gamble.... -_-

And some make so much noises over a mole hill .......

If you read the report a couple of times you will see how they manipulate the words and figures. " ...11 per cent of them said they became penniless....", what about those who kept quiet and neber say anything even though they bankrupt?

The best thing is they include other speculative sports or games into the picture to dilute the effects of the casinos. It's like saying it's not just casinos which made them penniless. They are not the main culprit so as to say.

Isn't our media great? [sly]

basically, personally, after reading tons of stuff, review, casino is never good for any country especially for her citizens; it is something avoidable; one bankrupt is one too many; it is like suicide; one suicide is one too many

but please it is just my opinion

I think it's damn contradicting when they categorise ppl as financially vulnerable but they collect the $100 from them anyways.

Why no "means" testing before allowing locals to enter? At least, must pass some exams on financial prudence before allowed to enter. [laugh]

Now, you buy insurance, shares, all must "pass" exams before they allow you to buy and trade.

Ya lor. Go to any 4d outlet on wednesday.

The q is never ending. There is always somebody in the line.

Thats money coming in non stop.

And worst still....what are the odds of winning ?

23 sets of winning numbers against 1: 10000 odds ? Top prize not even near 10k.
