I pump shell 98 ler...but 1.6 still underpowered....exora mpv...can 2.0 bimmer beat those irritating taxis on the road?...their sonata and epica are very powerful ler...once they revvvv, you can't even see their tail light...very fast...super fast!

Bimmer 2L with Turbo can beat any taxi (including those "E"s). Taxis cannot take up the corners any better than any Bimmer.

Hypersonic

Also can argue...

2007 you drive a 2.4L Toyota Camry.

2011 you drive a 1.6L Volvo S80

So up grade or downgrade ?? [:p]

In this case should based on badge liao. Toyota to volvo confirmed is upgrade. [:p] If you tell me volvo to audi, then must depends liao.

Actually why you wanna beat them? Just drive as per normal...

to most people, it will be an upgrade. but the definition of upgrade/downgrade is interpreted differently among different people. there are no rules which says changing from what to what is an upgrade.

so i rather consider everything as a change for the better. whether it's upgrade or downgrade, it's how you think and what the society thinks.

(edited)

I would consider modifying an existing car as an upgrade (eg upgrade brakes, upgrade suspension). Ur definition of 'upgrade' is to change car....

All these hard to compare lah...

My case...was driving a 2nd hand Lancer GLXi (the one that looks like Evo 3) 1.6L...then change to a 6 year old Legacy 1.8GL...my Lancer was newer and Legacy is older and cheaper.

But Legacy is a much bigger car and more powerful than the Lancer...so upgrade or downgrade ?

For me I chose the Legacy cos it make sense...scrap value was 29K !! The selling price is 48K...so minus off the scrap value the car dep only around 5K a year...and after the 2nd year...every month the installment I pay...a part of "go back" to my scrap value...no brainer to drive this car. I remember correctly I put 20K for the downpayment...the interest I got back lagi better than putting money in the fix deposit. 20K principle amount...48 months get 9K as interest !! hahahahahaha...

To me, its more of change car. Never think if its upgrade or downgrade. And its old car change to newer car. When car is 5 year old, regardless if change to another used car or brand new car.. but must be newer definitely.

Personally I will not go for another older car. If existing car is 1.5l 5 year old, change to a 2.4l 1,2,3,4 year old ok.. but not a 5 year onwards bigger car.
