oh .. so its not a routine tour ...I thot its something like those transformers ride in sentosa where you just sit on the boat and then sail through the sights.

so we can actually walk around to all the sights instead of taking the boat is it ? is the place very open or covered (shady) ?

You can skip the boat ride, it is not a routine tour.....and it is not compulsory.

Majority of the place is sheltered. Only a few parts aren't - eg the small monkey enclosure.

The boat ride, u just sit and look at the exhibits. These exhibits not available for viewing if you walk only. Look at the youtube video of my boat ride.

The rest of the exhibits, must walk to view. 80% of the exhibits are these type, viewing different fishes in the aquarium, mostly freshwater variety.

To spend so much just to sit in a boat and cannot interact with animals.

I averagely spent $6 for family in an animal resort which we can feed geese, fish, horse, chickens, ducks, rabbits.

Besides the ones which can feed, they also have parrots, stork, dogs, peacocks (there also 2 white peakcocks).

my malaysian colleague just asked me : is the Singapore Zoo the same as the River Safari ?

Different. Singapore Zoo does not have the variety of aquarium River Safari has. River Safari is more for freshwater fish lovers. If u love Jeremy Wade and his River Monsters tv shows, u will love River Safari.

Tot of planning a river safari for my boy so I search for reviews

Only to find that parking is ex so is entry fee which I really hate abt Sg

Some countries got lower priced tickets for locals n slightly higher priced for tourist which I personally support

That's y Singaporeans love to travel but seldom visit own attractions!!!!

And parking can be free .....

I would say there is a good mix of local.

of cos it can be quite costly if you have a big family to bring there. [sweatdrop]

There should be local visiting no doubt about that

After viewing the boat ride video that a bro posted

It looks like the boat ride in hk Disney??? And here there are the zoo, night safari n river Safari collecting individual cover fee??

Eg like in oz, local pays 20$ for maybe a sea world, tourist pay like 40$. I would pay 40 as I'm on holiday but I support their authorities that they charges the local at 20$ . The feel is there

Anyway thanks I'm just grumbling haha

as a local, I support your view. [:)]

for the boat ride, I don't think its worth it. many animals are hiding and you will not see much.

Take it as an outing n educational trip for your kid, and its local based (no need to pack, no need hassle to cross the border), then you won't feel so bad.....

Such local tourist attractions like Zoo, etc - we locals don't go all the time, maybe once every 5/10 years, so actually its not too bad also.....
