Tiny market. China and North America market are more important. Camry yearly sales in US is 230,000 units.

Agree. Mit Spacewagon is the grand daddy of MPV in Singapore.

Small MPV like Freed, Sienta, Matrix seemed to have been 'wiped' out. Conti have got a few 1.4/1.5L 'small' MPV. Toyota Avanza and Hyundai Caren announced many moons ago are still stuck in the moon; looks like AD delaying the launch because of the small number of Cat A.

Haven't talk to AD. But the little information I found is this:

- Hyundai R series engine were one of the 1st Euro-5 compliant engine and it is in 2.0 and 2.2 variant which is used by Santa Fe and Sorento.

Many Ph car web site stating it is Euro-5, that's the reason for the confusion.

I have also noticed that other threads were mentioning that our ambulance is also on private plate. That may be another good start to hunt for Euro-5 compliant sliding door van MPV.

Came back from both showroom last week.

Hyundai - Cannot register as private plate. Euro-4 engine but Euro-5 engine might start coming in end of year or next year. Van can still register as P plate but coy requirement applies.

MB - yes. but pricey. 231k for Long version and 234k for Ultra-Long version.

In short, no cheap diesel sliding van that is affordable in SG.

Ref the subject header –

What is affordable may not be good – eg. Hafei Minz

What is good may not be affordable – eg. Toyota Estima

actually I was wondering if there ever is an ideal MPV. what would you like in such an MPV? feel free to add to the list

1) sliding doors

2) boot space even with 3rd row seats up

3) plenty of compartments

4) small but powerful engine for low FC

5) height of seats - don't have to climb in/out

6) air con for 3rd row

7) flat floor for 2nd row

8) Fully adjustable/configurable/foldable seats. From minibus to cargo van to meeting room to bedroom

9). Gear level on dashboard, can access to the 2nd row from driver seat

Toyota Sienta, now at an all time low of below $100K.
