rocknroll 2nd Gear February 14, 2015 Share February 14, 2015 don't understand why Forester is not popular in local, it consistently won US best compact size SUV 2 years, performance, price, safety wise all are the best in its category, however local buyers more favor CX5, Harrier, Qashqai, CRV, RAV4, Sorento , Tuson, Tigun etc A colleague of mine went to view Forester and QashQai. He ended up with the QQ. Reason he gave was that the interior of QQ is better and more comfortable. US likes Forester because it is one of the cheapest 4WD SUV around. Lots of people buy it to go off road or as a second car to drive in the winter. Of course quality of Forester counts as well.

Driving in the day, my car rarely hit 90 km/h on highways because of the congestion. And if you notice, a lot of ladies drive "performance cars", so they'll choose comfort. Hi Rocknroll, Old thread but it is not about hitting 90km/hr or because it only takes 7 second for the forester xt to do so but the effortless and stress free drive. Not sure about your ride and experience but 2.4 estima scrapped after 10 yrs was great for passengers but not fun for driver to keep having to keep up speed at 100 km/hr after 12+ laborious seconds ... hence mentioned a lot of ladies driving them as it is comfortable for the same effortless and stress free drive ... go and stop betta than non-performance cars like estima. Cheers, Richard Well in S'pore, motorists, need good resale value[not good],good FC[boxer are a drinker],cheap spare parts[quite expensive],& Subaru sounded not nice[esp to Gamblers ].. Hi ER, Fortunately not a gambler and hence the 120k circumvent all these 3 points on resales, FC and spare parts ... incidently toyota, honda and especially korean cars' spare part are not cheap ! Ironically, cheapest VFM will be Merc E200 since many merc taxi around and share same parts and many parallel part importers ... surprise surprise. Cheers, Richard Previous Forester interior space quite cramp compared to others. New one how? Better? richard_crl032 6th Gear April 22, 2018 Share April 22, 2018 OK, then we are using the exact same method to measure FC, esp. insisting the pump attendant to "auto stop" :-) The weird thing is that my FC has been around 8km/L from June 2013 to about Apr 2014, then suddenly the FC just dived. There is no special mod, no change in driving patterns, no change in petrol type etc. I had NEVER been able to achieve 9km/L, not to mention 10km/L like you. The "best" was 8.6 (yes, I keep detailed records). Maybe I should try 98 fuel instead..... HI Randomstreet, Not sure if you still own your fxt but believe you found out that 98 does make a difference. However, end of the day is city/hwy % and driving style ... 9-10km/l at 50/50 city/hwy is achievable but wack it and sure, 7-8km/l even at 50/50 city/hwy. Keep it under 2k rpm and your 10km/hr at 50/50 will achieved. BTW, colleague's GLC250 is 9-10km/l also ... Cheers, Richard
