My (CDTI) normally I don wait for it to warm up, just go, but according to my owner manual, it states to let the turbo to cool down? for 30+/- seconds before switchin off the engine...

Whats CDTI? 30seconds seems overkill!

Here's what i do:

Turn key to on engine oil gauge and onboard computer. (You can hear the sound of the system coming alive)

Engine oil gauge will complete reading in 6 seconds.

Crank the engine to start.

Start the aircon.

Move off slowly and do not exceed 3500rpm until the temp gets up above 60deg.

Normal operating temp for my car is 90 to 100degrees.

Then redline every gear no problem.

Just drive immediately lah. No need to wait. As long you service the car regularly can already

this is true, just drive, anyway u gonna sell ur car for 1-2 years LOL

basically modern car does not need warm up or only if ur car is SOHC engine. just move slowly. most importantly during start ensure no radio, room light or aircon is on or else consume more battery

Hmmm, ok, then just follow loh.

Anyway, why you guys keep saying 'Air-con' The correct word should be 'climate control' unit or 'Heater, ventilation & air conditioning' unit(HVAC), unless your car only comes with air condition function & manual contol. Sorry, can't help it as I worked with Climate control unit before.

Ok, to be fair, there is a snowflake symbol on most HVAC, which is universal for air conditioning. You do normally have the option to turn the air conditioning compressor off (via the snowfrake button or equalvent), if thats what you guys mean. As normally, you can't turn off the HVAC system, as air always need to be ventilated.

mine ah pek old car.....still can see the gadget on/off button.

OFF all the gadget is to start the car easier.

Huh what is gadget button? My ah pek chia no have.

Anyway for me, turn key to first click and wait 6 to 10 sec ( my car got beep sound), clutch in, brake on before cranking engine. Ya check fan, a/c, whatever all off before that. Then move off gentle.

Will also partially wind down a couple of windows to allow air exchange.

That's why most STI/WRX owners fitted "Turbo-Timer".

Wow, learn something new. But you sure next time I go service/repair my HVAC, the guy at workshop know what I'm talking about? Can imagine the workshop guy say "Air con pai say air con lah, simi HVAC??!!" [laugh]

My startup routines:

Turn the key to On

Wait for few seconds for the engine light, battery light etc to off

Crank start the engine

Wait till the aircon model arrow icon stop blinking and switch on the fan and aircon

Then on ioniser, the radio and increase the volume

Sync the Bluetooth between phone and ear piece and by then, car is ready to move off.

Shutdown:

Switch off the lights

Turn down the radio volume to 0 and off

Off aircon and fan and ioniser and finally the engine.

Too bad, my auto mirror spoil, so one less step.
