correct way to start car is to get into the car, sit, close the door , then put key into hole and turn key.

hahaha.. i do make it a point to only crank the car wothout any accesories load. No air con, rasio, headlights etc....

What's the correct way to start the journey of the car in a fresh day? Some said after starting, need wait 30 sec or wait for rpm to reach certain level or other methods before moving off...... [drivingcar]

When the engine is still cold, rpm is usually higher, >1k rpm.

Just need to be extra careful as the "acceration" is higher when you off pedal. Need to hit the brake harder.

If wait till warm, the power is more linear. No surprises.

For push-start ignition, the engine starts immediately when the button is pressed without waiting for the startup initialisation.

Think not necessary to wait a few seconds for those initialisations.

No harm even if one wait for 30 sec.

During this time, can slowly adjust or put on seat belt, check reverse mirror, check side mirrors (left & right), adjust your radio volume or change another CD to suit you for the driving mood. By then all this completed, 2 minutes gone, so enough of warm-up ... -_-

You think machiam flying a plane with 1,001 items to check on the checklist ah?

Older rides may need time to warm up but newer ones I think don't need just crank up step on gas & move off liao.

Errr....i tot suppose to off those things 1st before off engine? How come u the other way round?

I also practice switching off A/C, lalio, dehumidifier (raining time), etc except my 24/7 DVR before killing the engine but sometimes rushing mah e.g. PS or LS so have to rush off and either forgets or no time to do the shutting down procedure.

Following day before cranking up the engine have check these devices are off lo.

Please be reminded that you need to drive [drivingcar] with all windows down for a small gap, gently discuss with your  wife for solutions and I believe mother & daughter would be much easier to compromise [laugh]

I always make my MIL to sit infront, she hates onions [thumbsup]

One more question: The air-con can immediately switch on after start car or must wait a while so as to extend the lifespan of battery n alternator?

NA car no need warm up.

turbo need..

both warm up and cool down

I owned 2 turbo cars, never bother to warm up or cool down. But I do not rev hard in the first & last 5-10 mins of the drive.

But do not take my word for it, better look at user manual.

I do sometime start the car earlier, before I drive off, but never to warm the engine.

Also in the hot climate of Singapore, the car is already 'pre-warmed'.

Anyway, in some cars, it is possible to remote start the car, or even set a timer (say start the engine every morning at 6.am), but usually, the purpose is not to warm up the engine, but warm/cool the interior the car before you drive off.

No need to wait, just move off after switching on engine. Unless you are driving a very old technology engine car.

Yes that should be the way.
