Recommendations on Installers for ICE

Hi people, I'm looking to do some installation on my car.. I'm driving a Hyundai Verna btw.. I checked around with a few reputed installers and were quoted ranging from $160-$400.. Auto Image quoted me the cheapest, but I'm guessing it's without the cables. I am only looking for a passive setup, just a slight upgrade to my current setup, which is kindda sucky.. I do not have a big budget, so would appreciate if anyone can refer me to a cheap and good installer..

 

 

Here are the list of items I am intending to install:

1. Pioneer Head Unit.. I just purchased a used Pioneer AVH-3350BT and am intending to replace my stock Pioneer 1 din HU.

2. Morel Maximo 6.5" Component Speakers (Purchased already) -

3. Sony Xplod XM-ZR602 2 Channel Amp - This is from one of my friend who dekitted, held it for more den a year but did not install it yet..

4. Current Front Coaxials to move to the back

 

My current setup:

Stock Pioneer 1 din Head Unit

Front Alpine Coaxials

Rear 6x9 Pioneer Coaxials

Old School Rodek RA-Street 4 channel Amp (Specs: url="http://www.alibaba.com/product-free/100987454/Rodek_Auto_Amplifier.html"]Rodek RA-Street 4[/url] )

Soundstream XS-10 10" Passive Subwoofer (Specs: url="http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_5466_Soundstream-XS-10.html"]Soundstream XS-10[/url] )

 

My thinking is to get my current Rodek Amp to drive my comps and rear coaxs.. The Sub will be driven by the new Sony Amp.. One of my rear 6x9" coaxials had popped and I'm thinking of shifting my front 6.5" to the back to replace it..

 

My questions are:

1. Is my thinking correct? I.e. to drive the 4 speakers and tweeters with my current amp and the sub with the new amp.. Will there be sufficient power to drive all my speakers and sub?

2. Will there be any problem replacing a 6x9 speaker with 6.5" ones other than the gaping hole on each side of the speakers due to the difference in shape?

3. Are there any installers who can do it under a budget of <$200?

 

I'm not really into ICE, but since recently I've started listening to more K-Pop and my current speakers are killing me, and coupled with the speakers behind that is already kaput, why not go for a slight upgrade?

 

Would appreciate if any of the ICE gurus here can give me your recommendations..

Did u actually went down personally to the shop n let them do a detailed survey of your setup? Otherwise, they may miss out something and ended up paying a lot more than the initial quote. Also, ensure all your used equipments are in workng condition. If not, it would be $$$ again. If I were u, i would just forget about the rear speakers. Replace your front speaker, listen and if sound good to you, then decide if you want to continue with the rest of the setup u intend to.

Nope, I have yet to go down to the shop to let them to a detailed survey.. I merely asked for a quote based on the items which I intend to do.. The reason why I did not go down personally is because I don't wanna be tied down to that particular installer, especially if they are charging too high.. I'd be a lil paiseh to let them diagnose and not proceed with the installation with them..

 

HU - $40-50

Amp - $50-70

Components - $40-60

Rear Speakers $30

 

These were the general quotation I've gotten.. Is this reasonable?

Tried many places in the past....but have been going to Ted (Auto Image) since know him 4 years back. Reasonable price and good workmanship. Nice environment too.

Since you mentioned autoimage gives u the most reasonable quote, why not make a trip down? Ted may allow you to install one item at a time instead of putting everything at one go. Maybe start with HU and front speakers. Do give him a call and make an reservation as his shop can be packed with customers. Remember to ask him tune the sound for u if your HU has features like time alignment, hpf etc.

that is the only installer that I will never ever patronize, but you are free to try.

 

there are many others around, go with the one you prefer.

Autoimage, I have been visiting them and recommending them for the past 4 years.Ted (Boss, very tall) and Simon (head-foreman, curly hair) are the best.For the least, you will never see them join raw wire and cover them with black tape. That's their principles for good workmanship, for the least.The only audio shop that I will patronise and recommend.

They did mine, not the cheapest around, but handiwork is more than decent, and very willing to redo it till you are satisfied, within reason. boss is not pushy, no hard asking.

Nope. Did mine before they started bringing in Ground Zero. Lower end Pioneer + Morel setup.
