While waiting for my chance to enter the main road, I m being knocked from behind by a taxi in the morning.

 

Things to note:

At the time of accident, I thought there isn't anything about it. So I only got him phone number when I left.

After parking the car, I called him back and he answered and cooperated by giving me his details so I can start a claim if you want. He pleaded to settle outside and even ask me to go back authorized work shop to get a quote rather than go to some car repair shop in ubi to get it one.

 

By noon, he even chased me to get a quote so that he can settle ASAP.

 

Car condition:

Unnoticeable damage.

Unless you are 15cm away under strong light, else you cannot see the dent. Slight paint chip.

 

What will you do?

 

1) claim insurance. Change bumper + rent car for 3 days while it is in workshop

2) accept a $1000 compensation and u settle urself. Even if u decide to do nothing, he will still pay.

3) let him go n forget about it.

 

Here is a person trying to repent, should I give him a chance by going option 2or 3.

By going option 1, the claims will be at 8-10k. I am sure he will kena demerit point and affect his taxi career.

If today I knock ppl car, I also want ppl let me go.

 

But if I take the 1000 n let him go easy, will he counter claim me say I knock his taxi. I only got till tomorrow to start a claim. That is why I need some experienced player to show the light.

 

What if everything is just an act to drag time.

draft a hand written letter to state that it was his fault in the accident and you have accepted to settle privately. do 2 sets. sign on both with name and IC number. each keep one copy. Just in case someone plays punk and do a claim. It should solve your problem.

take the amount you feel right and ask him sign a memo showing his compensation.

 

end of saga.need not dwell so much.

 

bottom line....he more kangjiong than you as driving is his rice bowl.

cannot claim too high for private settlement.

If im not mistaken, they only need to pay maximum S$1500 to S$2000 for claim.

 

if i were u, call Police/Ambulance. let him kana demerit points.

I may sound bad. Thats the way to treat them for being a basttard when come to accident.

With those hand written agreement is it considered good enough for the insurance company if a claim occures. Will it be denied as it is not up to standard.

 

What is right for me might not be right for him.Respray the bumper is around 900 and takes 3 days also. So you only got 100 to rent 3 days car. At least he needs to give me around 1500. I suppose 200 per day should get me a decent car.

 

 

 

Come to think of it, the taxi uncle might just be earning 3k a month. I take 1500 from him, he = 1/2 month eat air. But will he think I trying to con him cos damage so little where got compensate so much 1.

 

I want let him go by taking the compensation but I do not want to be the fool at last when I am over the time frame for claims and then the uncle Siam and I get nothing in return.

 

Take the money will also be a loss for me as you can see it cannot even pay for the repair cost and rental itself.

if less than visible, I would take the money, to respray or not is my own prerogative.

 

choice is yours to make.

Respray is the min I do. If got choice, i rather not have my car knocked.

 

The car is for imaging. Driving a spoiled car, later other ppl see lose confidence don't do business with me how? Don't you think we live in a superficial world.

bro, if just slight scratch or dent, any decent workshop can patch n respray for less than $500 lah.

why need to ask for $1000 or send to AD?? [hur]
