haha unbelievable right? mine's Q1 2004. met several late 2003 getz drivers when getzclub was set up.

manual wing mirrors. haha. ancient they are.

accident was nasty... yup...the honda civic that crashed into my rear was totalled...his was the last car so go figure.

had whiplash for a week so it was no joke.

mileage is low cos i didnt drive to work in recent years. only used it 3-4 times a week.

parked under the hot blazing sun everyday so paintwork and interior plastics suffered abit.

oh and besides the regular brakepads and oil changes, yeah only timing belt was replaced.

Unbelievable your getz survived the crash and able to operate well after the repaired. Looks like this car still consider quite solid. :D

You mean you only changed one time timing belt? Other belts and hose didnt change at all?

Yup only timing belt. Changed radiator cap last year.

Well it is serving me well but it's time to find another car to replace soon. [wave]

Turbocharged

if it gives any comfort to the new getz owners, i've been driving mine for more than 9 years with no problems.

mine's the first gen 2004 1.3A model.

was involved in a chain car collision and repairs amounted to $10k in 2006.

many well-meaning people told me (incl cab drivers) to sell the car after the accident cos problems arising from the accident/repairs will surface later etc.

well, i held on to it and it has faithfully served me well.

mileage reads more than 110,000 and thus far, only timing belt was replaced.

so yeah, getz is trusty and dont let the naysayers say otherwise abt this car. :)

and to be fair, i've driven both conti (ford, citroen, opel, bmw) and japs (mazda, mitsubitshi).

getz has not failed me, but some of the above have. :)

Your mileage is actually very low by Singapore's standard (~20,000km/year).

The low mileage might have induced lesser wear and tear.

For the $10k repair, assuming that most parts have been replaced, the car was brought to a "brand new" condition in 2006. So condition-wise it should be considered as a 2006 car, instead of a 2004 car.

Anyway, I think Getz is a good vehicle, I would prefer Getz over Aveo or Picanto.

Among the colors available, I like light blue.

Sorry TS, don't mind I hijack the thread.

I've just got a Getz 1.4A 5DR. Was thinking of changing the side mirrors from manual adjusting to electronic ones. Any bros out there know if that'spossible?

If yes, how much?

TIA! :D

Overall i think getz quite a decent car, this carconsider quite popular back then and even on today road, still find many running on the road.

that's where my dilemna starts and explains why i'm back at the forum reading up on info.

shortlisted a range of cars after some weekends at the carmarts and showrooms -

1. volvo v40 (only if COE crashes to $30k which i doubt it)

2. used mini cooper

3. used bettle (although my preference is the new TSI model)

4. used fiat 500 (fell in love with it in italy)

why used? cos i'm hoping the COE supply increases from 2015 and i can get a used A class then (new model).

if it's my brain making the decision, it'll be the i30.

Mini heard parts quite expensive. So all the models you mentioned is not your brain making decision ar?! [:p]

driving a getz, although small and simple, can save quite a bit.

so far my mileage is about 14-15km/l, one tank can cost about $70+ (without station and credit card discount), road tax quite cheap

i can only get 10+km per litre from my 2004 getz 1.3 auto.

if you going to change your timing belt you might also want to change your thermostat. my getz thermostat just cant open fully.
