1 thing about these AT torque monsters....must really be more KS & take extra care of the GB.

Bearing in mind that a rebuild for a 4-5AT managing 200nm can cost ~ 3k.....an 6AT for applications of 400nm ++ [sweatdrop]

Kana 1 time jialat jialat = sell car and/or all the years of savings on fuel refunded.

Turbo diesel SUVs are built workhorse tough leh. 400+ Nm is sup sup sui.

Hello Echelon.

I've been following your thread for a while now. Any issues to be mindful of on this model? Engine, tyres... maintenance factors etc? I'm driving an MPV and considering the switch to SUV. Just never driven a diesel before so not sure what to expect. Someone did warn me about taking care of the diesel particulate filter.

Thanks!

Hi, sorry I have not checked in here recently.

Ride wise, no complaint, enjoying it tremendously, comfort, drive feel, power, speed, size and mileage....all just nice especially for a SUV, cannot complain. Nothing really bad to look out for, knock on wood, no real issues.

Did try out the AWD in a muddy situation and wow, it really works well! :)

Just be careful of one thing though......you will want to take the longer route home every day. :)

Just to add to my research before I purchased a Diesel: Cut & Paste from, http://www.autocar.co.uk/car-review/kia/sorento/performance

".....The high-tech 2.2-litre motor that provides the power in the range-topping car is the only other motor on offer, and can also be had in front-wheel drive at the cheaper end of the lineup. It’s an impressive motor that packs 194bhp – more than the 3.0-litre turbodiesel engine that powers the Toyota Land Cruiser. But quite astonishingly, this engine also offers more torque than the Toyota: a solid 311lb ft wall way down at 1800rpm.

Not only does the hi-tech 2.2-litre diesel engine have strong power and torque, it interacts smartly and cohesively with the new six-speed gearbox, with the whole package aided by a car weighing a relatively modest 1960kg, or, to put it another way, nearly half a tonne lighter than the less powerful Land Cruiser..

In fact, the 2.2 CRDi Sorento goes remarkably well, sprinting from rest to 60mph in a brisk 9.0sec dead and offering the ability to hold on to individual gears in manual mode. Given that the 2.0 CRDi model is just £1000 cheaper than the equivalent 2.2, we’d recommend opting for the bigger motor if you can; the 2.0-litre car's performance, economy and refinement are adequate but nothing to write home about....."

Hi Andy

Hows your ride so far?

Hi,

So far so good. Clock 8k mileage now. Drove to KL and then Kuantan and back. Clock about 1.5k mileage for that time. Nice ride. I can see increasing number pf Sorento on the road. I upsize my rims to 20 and it look even more nice. Hehehe.. still waiting for my side steps to come. Hope can meet the rest of the Sorento bros here. For the current promo is quite good price. If past few months you will pay a lot more.

Cheers.

I am waiting for the new 2015 Sorento to reach our shores first then decide whether to change my car. Could it be that they are trying to clear the current model to welcome the 2015 Sorento? [:)]

The Sportage is quite attractively priced as well but sometimes i feel i might not need a huge 7seater which drinks petrol like water.

Can share with us the fuel consumption?

You might be right they are clearing it or they have outstanding COE that is not clearing as fast as they wanted. The 2015 Sorento is bigger than the current. If the current consumption is high, i believe the bigger one will consume more. hahaha........ Sportage is a nice car but i find lots of feature is missing compare to Sorento. Why I like Sorento is that the feature is comparable with a Conti model and it have more feature then some Conti model. especially the cooling seats really come into handy when you parked under hot sun. I like the steering mode. If change to sport, steering will become heavy and the overdrive kick in with higher torque for you to zoom zoom. For this, Consumption will goes up as well. If you have been driving a 2.0 car, you wouldn't see a lot of diff. The lack of power equal to higher petrol consumption. If you drive a 1.6, then you will see a big diff. Overall I find the car worth every penny you spent compare to a Conti car. Especially the 5 years unlimited warranty. i didn't look at Sportage and am not sure if these features are in the car.

I think averagely is around 10 to 11 km/l. If you look at the speedo it will say like 12 to 13km/l. if you are a heavy foot, then expect higher consumption. The car is heavy, I believe i upsize my rims and is still lighter then the 19inch stock.

2016 Sorento unveil on Paris Motor show, quite impressive, think SG will import 2.4 GDI model, should be a contender of full size suv like XC90, Q7, Senta Fe, X5, ML350...etc, if can import 3.5 V6, that a dream SUV

11.9 to 13 km/l is very good, my 1.8L sedan just around this range at 50/50 HW/urban,

you haven'y answered what is the travel pattern and what is the rim brand. [:)]

I traded in my 19inch and pay around 2.7K. Mine is snow crystal white I think, cannot remember those exact wording. I took it up to 160km/h. I did it gradually from 120 for some while before I go further. When going up to KL i go up to 140 and return to SG I go at 160. Smooth ride only thing is when you drive on federal roads. it was so bumpy. can made you vomit. You don't feel you driving a 160 anyway. At time I can see 9.8km/L from the car speedo. Not bad for a big car when driving in Malaysia.

GDI is FWD only. mostly highway and 10 to 20 urban. Rim is RT Racing from Taiwan. Why I said lighter is that when I accelerate, the pick up on 20 inch is much faster compare with stock.
