Want to update here, my Kia Sorento, Diesel, 2013 model, just passed the 18,000KM mark already. Smooth comfortable ride, even my customer from Indonesia whom drivces a Merc and Ferrari commented it is a torquey ride. The power is there, the features are unheard of at this category and price range. Plus full tank of fuel i get close to 800Km of drive - from a SUV? Unheard of.

My family was wondering if a KIA can really make it, Korean car...but all those Korean fears has been dispelled by all the Korean pop culture and people are more and more open to Korean products, the KIA is no different, the President of KIA used to be the Chief designer of AUDI, so you can see little traces here and there with more professional layout, color choices, design cues. Built quality has been amazing, the award winning 2.2L CDRi is - one word - WOW. AWD all day also is great, love it!

The MoonRoof - love it!

The Head Lamp pop out washer (never know it until a friend saw it when my ride was stationary) did not even know about it. - So it was a pleasant surprise.

Aircon - Dual Climatic Zone - Love it!

Can be a rugged 5 seater or a spacious 7 seater at some quick config of the seats - Love it!

The rear storage compartment - wonderful

The ample storage spaces, bottle holders! - LOVE LOVE IT!

Auto collapse side mirrors, with lights up for signal and tilts down for reverse parking.

Amazing stereo sound system - I can help but love it again!

Two front seats with power seats, drive seats come with power memory! - Me...like!

Bluetooth hands free call in-car mic and plays the call through the speakers - ingenious!

Various steering options, for the different type of drivers preference. Reverse Camera for those whom are terrible at parking...

The All-Day, Day LED lamps - fierce and nice road presence. Auto lights, cornering lights, - wow, can it get any better?

Self Parking - Yes SELF PARKING - All in a well built SUV for up to 7 seats, immense amount of torque, sorry, I should say, INSANE amount of torque!

Air-con ventilated seats, for the two front seats + all seats with heating controls for those rather chilly mornings, helps to warm your buns!

Oh....just one more thing.......It has 5 Year Free Warranty!

For a Conti car of this caliber - that would set you back by 250K and more!

I bet you can tell me more, but already with this, I am pretty exhausted already! Great ride, fantastic mileage, well built, and lots of spare parts, means easy to maintain.

My family all love the Sorento, its a little wide at first, but after awhile you learn to drive with it.

Cheers!!

Good feedback. [thumbsup] Think the Kia Sorento and Sante Fe are truly excellent buys.

Btw, the sorento difficult to navigate the MSCP ramp or carpark or not?

driving a wish Jan'2007 now. went to see BM's Wish @ 152k and Kia's Sorenta @ 155k.

BM's Wish @ 152k

With over-trade, they take in my wish @ 53k => 76k-53k = 23k cash and 76k loan

Kia's Sorenta @ 155k

Take in my wish @ 41k => 78k - 41k = 27k cash and 78k loan

spec wise, Sorenta win hands down but i think the car a bit too big for me and my family. my wife love the car!

Is the price of $155k for Sorento Diesel or Petrol? If it is petrol, FC would be worse than Wish. However if it is diesel, do take note of the extra taxes that u would have to pay. Diesel is more worthwhile if your annual mileage is high.

Mine is a 2.2 Diesel CRDi (Turbo Diesel) / 197 bph/436NM of torque between 1800-2500 rpm - plenty of power - but remember that this is not a race car! Its AWD - has anti slip feature, AWD means better grip. If on an Audi - it would have been called Quattro. :) Yep Quattro is the fancy name of AWD and you can see how much they hike up the prices.

I was driving a Skoda Superb previously 1.8T / chip up to 210 HP, but torque was only 240NM

For some idea about Toruqe - thats the important thing for taking off, which is what you will need more than BPH on a SUV.

For those concerned about the MRs driving such a big car - my wife is one of them. She was terribly cautious...in the beginning - but now she just loves it and says its the best buy. My mom loves it as she is older its easier for her getting in and out of the SUV easier than on a sedan car. Plus the 7 seat option really makes everyone very very happy - well built and roomy. LOVE IT!

Kia Sorento 2013 model is a well spec car, they threw almost every features at it without too much price pain/hike. Over the last model, they improve the rigidity of the frame, suspension....think of it as a very good value SUV.

I chose Diesel purely because of the way I drive, the savings I get is well, unhead of. In my Skoda 1 full tank from empty is above SG$100+ for the big ass SUV, its SG$80+ plus I get the same distance as the Skoda 1.8T model, yet get the spirited power on tap with the turbo diesel under the hood. Furthermore the design/power is priced at the sweets spot + its design by the team whom used to design Audi's. Very safe.

Servicing is everyone's concern - I get 5 year service out of a SG$2000 credit voucher - it basically cuts out labor, but extra wear and tear stuff, you will still have to pay for it, oils as well. Same with everyone actually. CnC service is easy, do all my appointments online. Super easy to set up. One day turn around. Send in at 9am, get it back by around 2-3pm, plus wash and vacuum. Very good service support I would say. Also when I visited the Ubi Svc Center, they offer self help food and drinks as you wait or choose to head out somewhere else. Good experience.

I asked my wife before I sent out this article what she thought about the purchase of the Sorento - "Good buy." my kids love it, my mom love it, heck my brother also loves it after he took it for a spin.
