I share my story also.

My aircon have the "rattling sound" when accelerate. Went to Lucky. Checked and dismantle the compressor. After checking, say need to change whole compressor. Cannot rescue.

Quote me $660/- brand new. Recon $380. I felt he is pushing me to change to recon. I think he is trying to sell off his recon compressor. Can see a lot of recon compressor in his shop.

I told him consider first. After seeing me that I am not going to change. He charge me labour $80. I am ok with paying the labour.

I want to ask if labour of $80 market price?

There was another customer in the shop and he also recommended recon compressor to him.

TO add on: I have enquire with few shops.

Tomika: Brand new 700+ recon 300+

L & Kim: Brand new 600+ recon 320.

Mark cool: brand new 1000+ recon 300+

Shop that diagonse the problem wrongly: brand new $550

Chin H_ _. Mazda original .

I never ask if they got OEM or not.

Your Korean orignal or OEM?

The previous post I mentioned are prices quoted by aircon shops which is OEM.

Unsure if it's orig, but it's same brand as my previous one, so I assume it's orig car part.

Call more stockists, like Min Ghee, Tanly. Can try Ang Brothers also.

I'm not sure abt what is original and OEM. From my understanding, common Jap cars use Denso compressors.

How many years left for yr car?

Check with Denso dealers.

Ok. To clarify. From my understanding, I take absorber for example. Like absorber with mazda logo, I consider original . Kyb is OEM. To be exact, I called 5 stockists. 3 never carry. 2 carry original . I will call Ang bro, tanly and Ming ghee

Am I correct?

I would want to get OEM compressor as long as it gets running . My ride left 5 years.

You mentioned common jap cars use denso compressor. Now then I know. Tks.

yeah, u can actually see the brand on your compressor. just shine a torch on the compressor and look around. My ride is Honda and i can see its Denso compressor.

Car manufacturers don't make their own air con compressors. All are outsourced 3rd party brands. So to me, as long as u get back the same brand and model, its totally fine.

Don't get conned by those WS say simi original, OEM... all BS one. And beware of those famous WS. They are the ones with the biggest knives. They are so popular that they anyhow whack the price and give wrong diagnosis.

Tks for the information. Yes I agree. Those famous shops sometimes anyhow diagnose due to too many customers as they don't have time to make thorough checks.

I will not go n_ _ luck again based on my own experience. Old snake.

I would say the famous ones are

Markcool

Tomika

Motoaire (I have been to this one, wanted to charge me $40 for simple diagnosis fee. The boss and me have a heated debate. In the end, I top up gas and pay him $40). In my opinion, not as good as reviews stated.

The last time I went there, I say a sign, stating charge for diagnosis.

Perhaps it's due to misunderstanding that diagnosis and mechanic/workshop time is free to everyone who comes in.

Workshops are operating a business.

When you come in and occupy a space, some other customers have to wait or sometimes they go away and it's a business lost.

Unfortunately, I think many people thinks their time is free and refused to pay.
