Jason_chia2001 1st Gear June 17, 2014 Share June 17, 2014 sorry bro. coz I also own a xc60 T5 no worries the XC60 is also a very good drive...I am actually very surprised at the drive already, considering it being FWD. Used to drive AWD, so not too used to the FWD AWD in hatchback form really sticks to tarmac at high speed, even at corners.. How was your experience with your XC60? Yeshe Turbocharged June 17, 2014 Share June 17, 2014 FC 10.4km/l 14.9km/l LOL... you believe that shit? the actual figure probably close to half of that [laugh]
Jason_chia2001 1st Gear June 17, 2014 Share June 17, 2014 LOL... you believe that shit? the actual figure probably close to half of that [laugh] Nope...i do not believe that "shit".. However, if either one is halved, the other will also be the same.. It's just a reference guide..both cars are not as what the numbers claim.. Most SUV will probably not get a good FC (petrol models), but hey..if want to go for good FC, get a Prius..
Wyv9 Neutral Newbie June 17, 2014 Share June 17, 2014 Oops..should be below.. Bros, I did quite a lot of "homework" before going to Volvo.. My heart is with FL2 but i have to negotiate with my wife on her requests as well.. So we came out with a chart and attached is something that I did together with my wife... I did not include all the rest for comparison as they are mostly the same. Sadly, due to the amount of greens i have to go for a 1 bid XC60 instead of the FL2... PS: AR= Alfa Romeo FL2 has remote tailgate now? My FL2 is slightly less than 1 year old and it don't come with it. With my wife heavy foot and mainly urban driving, the fuel consumption is about 6.5km/L.

Used to drive AWD, so not too used to the FWD AWD in hatchback form really sticks to tarmac at high speed, even at corners.. How was your experience with your XC60? i have owned my XC60 for 2.5 years already. i actually dont like the car...so my comments are cons - extremely bumpy ride. its like sitting in a old school bus - very heavy steering - a lot of body roll - your left knee will touch the side of the centre console, very irritating - turbo lag pros - safe car - looks nice - comfortable seats - smooth gear changes
Johnc 1st Gear June 18, 2014 Share June 18, 2014 My bros, my FL2 is 6 years old (40,000 km) and since the warranty expired, I have spent about $20K (excluding regular maintenance) to keep the car in good running condition. The car drives well if only it is kept that way. But as I found out, repairs done by Wearnes is marked up by at least 80% - 100% (depending on the type of parts) more than what it cost in UK and Australia and maybe Europe too. So, beware of the upkeep cost after warranty period. But then again, other conti 4 wheel drive/SUV dealers may be the same. Any experience so far from you bros? Advice is to make any replacements/repairs during the warranty period, and Wearnes is very generous about this...as they can claim time & materials from JLR HQ.

comegetme 2nd Gear June 19, 2014 Share June 19, 2014 (edited) Bro, if you do not like the XC60, why do you get it in the first place? Just interested to know... i was in the market for a mid size SUV during that time. was considering the Q5, X3 and XC60. Chose the volvo for its looks and its reputation of being a very safe car during the test drive, couldnt really get to see the cons that i listed. even though i requested for an extended test drive. after 3 months, i regretted. not a good car. my next target will be landrover discovery. John You mentioned you service your Fl2 at outside workshop apart from the authorised dealer as it's not under warranty anymore. Which workshop do you go to? If not convenient to post here can always PM me. But hope you can share with all bros here who's ride like your's and mine for the benefit of having alternatives and choices apart from Wearnes. Many thanks!
signer4 Neutral Newbie June 22, 2014 Share June 22, 2014 Bro Laojiao, Hope you can advise us bros here. I am freshie compared to you. Hear from you soon! Bro Jason, How is the drive thus far? Good!
Jason_chia2001 1st Gear June 23, 2014 Share June 23, 2014 Bro Jason, How is the drive thus far? Good! Bro signer4, Travel a lot so only just put in my 1st full tank of petrol last weekend since getting my car. Previous weekend rains a lot, the AWD is very much missed here My previous ride was a hatch, fast corners & great handling..I guess have to give some for getting a SUV.. The R comes with a stiffer setting, body roll is quite minimized (as compared to FL2 & the E)..thats the good part Bad part is that most part of the road surface can be felt..but I am used to as all my previous rides are stiff tuned.. Soft leather steering & seats are really comfortable..got a light scratch on the steering leather though.. Wearnes will be changing the whole leather there for me.. Tell you more when I got more driving out of it..

Mossijuno Neutral Newbie July 14, 2014 Share July 14, 2014 Hi guys, Im a newbie here and my freelander 2 is due for a brake pad change (or so says Wearnes auto la). But the car only driven for 29,000kms, so im thinking, -- Isit really time for a change? Mileage seems too low to wear out a brand new set of brake pads. Sometimes I feel dealers may ask you to change to make moolah $ when it really isnt necessary. My driving style is "mid-heavy" footed. -- How to determine whether the brake pads really need to be changed? -- And if really need to change should they be changed at Wearnes? Becos I think dealers tend to charge higher, they quoted $620 front and rear. -- And if don't change at Wearnes.. can bros here recommend a gd place to change them? Thanks much! Jason_chia2001 1st Gear July 14, 2014 Share July 14, 2014 yes from Jap car previously! Wearnes says 4mm brake pad left.. is 4mm too little? But nope, no brake screeching sounds. Typically, when you reach 1-2mm..have to get ready to change the brake pad. Issue is that from now till the next servicing, you will probably have less than 1-2mm & start hearing the screeching sound when you brake afterwards. In Jap car, your servicing cycle is shorter. So, 4mm is still some way to go for Jap car. If pricing for only the brake pads is 6-700 bucks. that is slightly higher than the market rate where brake pads sold for 200-600 depending on their grades. Unless I am wrong, Wearnes also do the balancing for you after changing the brake pads..confirm with them on this and the type of brake pads use. Adrianli Hypersonic July 15, 2014 Share July 15, 2014 Just stick ur handphone camera between the wheel spokes and take a photo of ur brake pad and see. Here is a photo of mine, used and brand new. Driving a korean car. Used. Require changing already. New. Just installed in a month. ↡ Advertisement
