Mmmwhhhahahahahhahaha

And e salary shown is NOT their total income.

Maybe we sud make it compulsory fr our politicians to declare their TOTAL INCOME per year.

I think e figures wil shock us even more.

to be frank with you, i do agree with your assessment of the dirty looks you get from this job. but you can't justify an element of remuneration for "dirty looks suffered". there are quite a few other professions that suffers from "dirty looks" and yet they don't get any remuneration for that aspect

however, let's just not kid ourselves that because of their low pay, people like Donald Tsang and Obama are any less competent.

i also find it not the right justification to pay the entire cabinet highest salaries in the world, when the cabinet doesn't all contain high earners like davinder (who anyway quit after a short tenure). some of them came from the military, others came from unions and GLCs. their market (note I use the word market) pay sould be much lower than what they are getting as ministers.

the way i see it, they always cite the few top earners like lawyers and doctors amongst their midst to justify the high salaries for the entire cabinet.

Ty like to compare their pay to our top earners in private sector but if u notice top earners in private sector dun earn so much EVERY year. Always top earners different pple. This year make $3 mil but next year lose $3 mil.

Our politicians consistently earn that high pay EVERY YEAR...year in year out. Guaranteed high income no risk.

they can review the list every year and the #1 spot will never change haha

if they include ministers as well then SG will occupy all 7 slots

the list should include all the ministers then the top 10 will be only from one country.

Can we swap Obama with LHL? cheaper also

We can not or CAN'T swap our Leader, our country extraordinary theory is very convincing one. Lower pay salary Leader equal to "Corrupt Leader ! "

All of us have to suck thumb lan lan and move-on..........

Actually in terms of the annual national wage for all civil servants, in $ terms, the pay for ministers is actually not a lot. However for them to be worth that pay, there is no accountability. If they do a bad job, as it is now over many issues on FT, overcrowding, increase cost of living, stagnant wages and so on, they would have to step down IMMEDIATELY. They have committed a huge mistake but who is there to admonish them? We will have to wait for the next elections to replace those inept politicians.

We need a balanced approach for our parliament - 50% PAP and 50% WP. Things will get more interesting from there on.

Official salary Vs all the other kickback to this entire clan ?

I rather pick the Singapore's way.

Yeah - accountability is the word - if they do a good job, they can stay with their million dollar salary, if not - out they go. So far, doesn't look too good.

This is and will always be the biggest shame to our nation.

Why?? What's so shameful? So if our leaders were the lowest paid in the world we would be proud?

+ 1 for that

Google " salary for a CEO" and see the median salary

Sure it business, not politics , but if you want men/women to *fully* give up money for "greater good of country",

then I dont think that is realistic; additionally Singapore may not have the population size to statistically yield the number of "self sacrificing" individuals

600K to run Singapore, you want ?

All said & done , Clean money they can take , but make sure the place is well-run ( this is where it triggers other discussions)
