The current (9th) and 8th generations of Honda Civic have Good rating for this crash test.

So it does not mean that Conti cars are usually better than Japanese or Korean cars in this respect. It is the structural design and how soon the manufacturers rectify the short-coming after test results that matter.

In any case, driving safely and defensively to avoid any collision is best.

Yes. Situation awareness is important.

Add - it does seem this small overlap test is a plausible scenario in everyday driving. Imagine swerving to avoid but can't make it in time. There comes the small overlap collision. Quite shocking to see cars open up like a flat can of sardines regardless of brand.

Almost every single Toyota that has taken part in this got poor.

Only a few cars managed to score good in this, Volvo (S60 and XC60, others not tested yet) and a few of Acura/Honda.

That means head on crash better then try to siam but cannot siam properly and collide at corner.

If I installed 4 point strut bar in the bonnet, will it help, or will it stab me or my passenger instead?

Good point to take note at that split second before impending impact. But make sure don't kill or injure anyone of course if possible. Vehicle can write off and replace but lives can't.

Found it. It's Marginal - also means not so good la. At least in its current state.

To add - the Jetta is rated Top Pick. All other crash tests were rated Good except the small overlap. Means if needed, better to wack dead centre and not to the side.

That's why we need test drive. My opinion, is just over priced as most parts are shared with the BB Toyotas. With the exception of extra soundproofing and interior fittings. Toyota is very good at sharing most parts to ensure high level of interchangeability and efficient use of resources. I am not saying, is a bad choice. But it' s just overpriced, that's all.

Test drove and overall prefer the lexus. The C-class IMO don't feel as nice inside and very common on the roads also.
