DACH Supersonic November 7, 2017 Share November 7, 2017 in spore if you travel at 90kmph ... you have the RIGHT of way in lane 1 and no one can pass you Nonsense lah... See ambulance on siren just give way. What so difficult? What do we really lose by giving way even if it was a non emergency case? If everybody need to double-confirm real or false case triple-analyse got emergency or non emergency before deciding to give way, I think we already lost our humanity. As long as the siren is on, don't judge. We won't know what is happening inside the ambulance and where the fire fighters are going to. Ambulances can legally run red lights and make unauthorised U-turns from Dec 1 Read more at http://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/singapore/ambulances-red-lights-unauthorised-u-turns-scdf-9382756 I support this initiative. But I hope that the authorities will give some defensive driving skills to the emergency vehicles drivers, in case how to avoid accidents in case they run red lights. ↡ Advertisement

Cokiee 1st Gear November 8, 2017 Share November 8, 2017 Despite all our niam-ing though, I've found that every time I've tried to give way to an emergency vehicle on the roads by filtering into another lane, people have let me through lah. So that's still good.
Oloberwonder November 8, 2017 Share November 8, 2017 But what if by having the ambulance chiong red light and make illegal U-turns, other road users get into an accident? Esp inexperienced drivers… I have nothing against the new implementation tho, just some food for thought.

That is why I propose that these drivers should undergo some defensive driving courses in order to avoid the accidents as much as possible.

Ambulance drivers should be trained on what to do best in such situations, and other road users must know what to do when they see an ambulance (i.e. be more careful and aware). It will beat the light but move slowly across the intersection until safe to speed up again. Also driving test should include what to do in this situation as well. Only when the ambulance passed will they move. Experienced that a few times when i was driving in Hokkaido. So hopefully the drivers here will learn to do the same?

Jman888 Moderator December 19, 2017 Share December 19, 2017 Perak ambulance driver bashed by bikers for asking to make way: Report 19 Dec 2017 09:00AM (Updated: 19 Dec 2017 09:10AM) File photo of motorcyclists in Malaysia. (Photo: Bernama) TAIPING, Perak: A group of motorcyclists attacked an ambulance driver and a female nurse after they were asked to make way for the vehicle on the North-South Expressway on Sunday (Dec 17). According to the Malay Mail, authorities have identified three suspects as part of a motorcycle gang, commonly known as a mat rempit group in Malaysia. The 53-year-old ambulance driver was taking a patient from Parit Buntar Hospital to Taiping Hospital when he encountered the group of motorcyclists at a traffic light intersection near Taiping Utara toll plaza. The driver said they appeared to be racing, and were blocking the road. “As their actions could have endangered the ambulance, I used the speaker to advise them to give way. However, my action ignited their anger and they rammed the ambulance, before one of them fell, which made them angrier. They then completely blocked our way by using their motorcycles," the New Straits Times quoted the driver as saying. Around four to six motorcyclists forced open the ambulance door and dragged the driver out of the vehicle before they punched and kicked him, the report said. The accompanying nurse, who was taking care of the patient, tried to break up the fight and was knocked down by the motorcyclists. The driver needed four stitches above his right eye. Reports said that the ambulance driver transported the patient to Taiping Hospital before making a police report.

Yewheng Twincharged January 29, 2018 Share January 29, 2018 (edited) https://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/singapore/laws-to-regulate-private-ambulances-operators-caught-in-the-9852498?cid=fbcna This is an example of you guys complain somemore La. See, our government heard our complaint on private ambulance and come out with this regulations. So what happened now? With this new regulations, some private ambulance will convert to full flagged ambulance and cost will pass down to us who use their services. It's a stupid regulations that only up cost the operating cost and with no real benefit. What is wrong with give and take approach that we need to scrutinize private ambulance until like that? I know many people complained private ambulance misused the siren. However the correct approach is to enforce private ambulance company to have a strict standard on their drivers. If they don't adhere to the standards out they go. So this new rules creates a whole new problem for private ambulance.. See La.. And our government moving in this kind of directions.. Haiz.. You guys complained cost of living keep going up right? So please don't screw ourselves by complaining things that can be solved by give and take approach. If not government will heard our complaints and then come out with new regulations and end up cost of living went up even higher with new regulations.. Stupid right?
