Mdm Whey don't think can RIP.

 

May the heartless bloke be charged in Court.

 

Even if not charged with Manslaughter, must gantong his/her license and barred him/her from getting any license.

 

Hamburger, Mdm Whey's son has a reason for private ambulance service. See article plse.

 

Plse don't tell me private ambulance don't deserve to be treated as Emergency Vehicle just because they are not SCDF.

Normally, medical cases that are not life threatening are advised to use private ambulances. SCDF ones will attend to accidents and emergencies. I used to see on some advertisement panels advising people to call 1777...

 

Sad to say, I think the fellow will only face the charge of "failing to give way to an emergency vehicle" and nothing more!

This driver is combo-lan.

kum lan because don't give way to ambulance.

gwai lan because jam brake.

lau lan because speed up to block when ambulance try to overtake from left.

Matrix owner sound-proof the whole car.

cannot hear a single horn or siren.....or maybe deaf driver

In some cars (may be Matrix, hahaha) there is "No rear view mirror"! The driver's eyes were only focused to the front - like race horses'! :D

In some states in America, people will pull off by the sides of road and stop to let the ambulance pass.

 

I don't know what is in the head of that driver ? Coconut water ?

Just one more additional point -

 

One subject that seems to come up regularly -

 

Should you give way for "only" lights ...

 

I dunno what is the legal answer, but in my mind - absolutely YES.

 

Also - As a side issue - I do think that "lane splitting" for emergency vehicles should be practised, but that's an issue for another day

 

actually, normally if i see emergency vehicle in lane 1, even no light no sound, ill just give way. even if empty, they could be chionging to save someone life.

 

how often you see ambulance behind you? maybe 1x a month? so difficult to give way meh?

 

also, meant to post this earlier but didnt have time. that matrix driver is really a knnccb mf'ing idiot...(sorry mods, cant help the way i feel :P )

I am going to give some more points on what goes on in an ambulance. For those who do not know.

 

If you call SCDF, the ambulance will bring you to the NEAREST PUBLIC hospital. This is important because if you stay in Woodlands, you will be brougfht to KTPH. So you cannot be brought to TTSH or SGH. Exceptions are burn injuries but tts because SGH is the burn centre in Singapore.

 

So patients who want to go to SGH but they stay in Woodlands, they have to call a private ambulance because a private ambulance can bring them wherever they desire, even to private hospitals.

 

I have heard that Raffles hospital will take SCDF cases but I am not too sure how it will work.

 

A previous poster asked what if an ambulance ons the siren for a second before switching off, I can say there are many reasons for that. Main reason is like a gentle horn, to signal people to give way but not wanting to on the siren at full blast all the way.

 

Understand one important point. Switiching on the sirens in Singapore does not have much effect like overseas and that is why here, the blinkers are sufficient, except for full blown emergencies. Why do I say that? Overseas, the sirens let drivers know that an ambulance is coming and thus, even if you are having the right of way at a traffic junction, you will stop because an ambulance is going to beat the red light. I have seen ambulance go the wrong direction in a two way street before. So you see, overseas they might on the siren all the way but there is a reason which is not really applicable here.

 

Private ambulance and govt ambulance do carry emergency cases so please give way. Ambulances rarely fake their blinkers and sirens. There might be black sheep but I think we have not reached that point, not in Singapore at least.

 

For info, do you know that in an ambulance, the paramedics and medics are not belted up? The reason is because they are documenting and doing life saving measures or just taking vital signs. They cannot do that if they are belted up. Hence, if you make the ambulance suddenly brake, you can cause injury to the paramedics, especially if they are trying to set an intravenous line at that time.

 

I second to this bro posting. I have experienced before i was having a very bad food poison n fainted just outside a GP clinic. GP called a ambulance and I was inside it. I can hear that siren was not on. But half way thru, the medic shouted to driver " No Pulse" and i still can hear that siren was on and chiong. I thinking "Hong Gan" liao. I must be gone liao bcos i heard NO PULSE but i still can hear siren. End up in TTSH ER room i woke up, and the medic came to say sorry to me. Bcos both of them wack 4 IV into my hands n legs during the journey bcos the pulse sensor on my finger drop and they saw no pulse reading from the machine! Kaoz no doubt i in pain and i just smile to them. Its ok, u doing yr job. I got alot of meat for u to do IV.

I laugh [laugh][laugh][laugh][bigcry] because the ambulance staff give you a great shock about you are going to transfer ambulance to "up-Lorry Liao" [laugh]

Bo pain lei.I was in very bad shape. Vomited at least 10x n LS 6x before walking to GP. Its ok la. They are trying to save me. IV only no big deal as they never cut me up.
