i get what you guys are trying to say ... but once bitten, twice shy ... my current car sent to outside workshop due to stalling, collected the car on saturday afternoon ($515), drove home and on the same night go out and car stall again. tow back($60) to the w/s and they said no problem.

two days later, stall again. so in the end, tow($50) back to the AD and had it fixed again.($600)

outside w/s is for obvious issues/problems. AD is for problems that outside w/s cannot solve.

anyway, MI has a used-car evaluation service for $68 ... going to ask them to check first before doing. pay abit more - one time, rather than pay and pay again. pain one time can already.

U also got a point there that i agreed too but Anyway most importantly is after this issue u'll enjoy the ride bro :)

And welcome to our scooby family :)

$5k for 6 months compared to $100k for 3 years .... ??

i'll take a "risk" with the former ... i have lost faith in outside w/s already .... maybe i'll just use them for oil changes.

but i also notice something also mechs ... they dun check when you report a problem to them ... you tell what happened and straight away they form an impression and then work on that impression. they dun go and check if that is really the problem or not or if got other causes or not.

Cheers bro!

I can only say u hvnt found the rite ws

quick question :

1. what is the switch on top of the steering wheel column ?

post-2854-1378216994_thumb.jpg

2. what does the auto gearshift switch do - for "Power", "Auto" and "Hold" ?

i am assuming "auto" = auto, "hold" = maintain specific gear, but what about "power" ?

If i'm not wrong, The switch on top of the steering wheel is the pole light button. It's actually for u to switch it on when u park at a dark area when drivers will see that there's a car there.

The gear shift button u r talking is it the one beside the gear knot ? If yes,

Auto is normal driving.

Hold is actuall for country that snow, as its to have a better grip. U can use it on a slop when the ground is wet specially when u r going up a car park.

Power is something like a booster , when u switch it on the car will have a better respond / pickup. but it'll affect the FC.

Pls correct me if I'm wrong because mine is a TS.

That is a parking light switch. In case you dont want to use the hazard lights and want some lights at night when you take off your key. Beware! Only use when needed. If you forget to switch off, the lights will drain your battery.

oh, one more thing ... i just realized that when you lock or unlock the impreza, only the lights will flash once or twice, but there is no sound.

does that mean that the impreza TS got no stock security alarm ?

Power mode is drag gear mode, easy term means the gears wun change so early so more like MT

Can get higher rpm

Guys, need to ask some ideas on what could be happening if the car air con is not cold when stationary or normal drive but temperature drops when I start to rev the engine, and after that when resume to normal rpm, the temperature goes up again.

Never encountered such problem before. Most of the hot air seems to be coming from the driver side air vents.

Hope someone can help. It's gonna be another week before I can head down to workshop as I'll be on reservist...

Alright brothers,

the problem is resolved. Cooling Coil leaking and the air con pipe also leaking. Change both (with some welding done for the aircon pipe) cost $690.00.

Quite chor considering I just done my 100K servicing... [bigcry]

Foo Brothers at Tampines bro. Best to find a workshop familiar with Scooby, cos apparently 08 models always have this problem.
