Hi guys, asking on behalf of my bro-in-law. His 2nd hand 2006 AMT Lancer GLX vibrates quite noticibly when it's idle and gets worse when he engages reverse gear.at one point, during reversing up a small slope, his car totally stalled.and i could also notice that the RPM drops when the vibration starts. Car is totally stock and engine mounting is all ok.

Can any GLX owners help me in this matter? Many thanks in advance.

when it's on neutral, does the rpm flunctuate and drop & car vibrate?

if yes, get the ignition coils checked.

that's my hunch.

check your throttle body.

my swift encountered similar issue when i first got it.

the battery went dead after replacement, the rpm could not stable and always drop below 500rpm and engine will stall. i was on open pod that time.

i believed it has something to do with AF issue. I basically change back to stock airbox and problem resolved.

Is he selling the car?

If he is, try selling to lonely single ladies,

I think he will get a very good price.

A few possibilities. Best to get the car checked at a reputable workshop that can tell you the faults involved.

You can ask them to run diagnostics to find out which is faulty; ignition coil, throttle body, A/F or other issues.

Ignition Coil: Replace

Throttle Body: Clean

A/F: Program Reset to Factory Defaults, Idle Learn, Advance/Retard the Ignition Timing.

Engine Mount: Some engine mountings will look good from exterior view, only after u remove u realise got a crack. Esp car of that age. Mid SG life crisis.

thanks guys for the kind help.sent his car to a workshop in autobay.my mechanic says that the idle control servo motor is faulty.after replacing it,and cleaning up of the air filter and also cleaning of the throttle body, everything is good as new!

pardon our worries as the current COE situation make everyone think about maintaining the car to last as long as it could.. [;)]
