SAINT-PETERSBURG - Police in Russia's northwestern city of Saint Petersburg have launched a probe after a video of an eight-year-old girl driving 100 kilometres per hour through snowy scenery went viral on the Internet.

The clip of Karina Mikulchik driving was shot by her mother Yelena, who was sitting in the back seat. The footage has been viewed nearly 500,000 times on YouTube.

The little girl seems unperturbed handling the Audi to the sounds of techno music from the stereo.

A man sitting in the passenger seat, apparently her father, tells her: "Come on! Accelerate! At least to 100! Don't be afraid."

The camera zooms in to show the speed creeping up to 100 kilometres.

"If Nastya saw me drive a car, she'd pass out right away!" the smiling girl says at one point, apparently referring to a friend, as she speeds through a snow-covered field on a narrow road.

Twincharged

Haven't viewed the video, but if it's a deserted road, who cares? They are only endangering their own lives, though they probably have laws to protect the safety of minors, hence police are concerned.

In Russia, driving Audi... must be some rich ASK also lah... They are the same wherever in the world you encounter them! [laugh]

So by age 20, they can drive 250 easily already? Haha

Its only an A4, & doesn't coast all that much in Russia I think. I driven A4 also, as a loan car, & its a really nice ride, though.

Edit, after looking again, I think its an A6. That could cost a bit.....& being A6, most likely AWD also, but still not reason for a kid to drive.....Russians....
