Modern warships look so simple and boring compared to cruisers and battleships of WW2, where the ships were literally bristling with hundreds of guns of various calibers.

Yea, even the greatest of them all, Bismarck gets sunk..... but by submarines though....

actually whether this title goes to Bismarck or Yamato is debatable. Somehow I feel the professionalism projected by the IJN was more thorough. And the Japanese Navy was in every aspect arguably a more complete blue water Navy with air projection capabilities.
