Renting a car in Australia is relatively cheap. Pamper yourself with a car you will never own or drive here.

That's why on my coming trip to Melbourne I picked a BMW X3, I hope they give me this car.

yeah ... when i go OZ or EU always get different car to drive ... [thumbsup]

come back spore ... drive Vezel or CHR is my dream car liao ...

I think if you rent a few days like 5-7 days still ok... but you know me lar... like to go for long trip... so renting a premium car will really be chor... need to rationalize the budget...

Don't collect car in Aussie airport.  Collect at city or nearest collecting center.

As I share earlier,  the X3 rental fee is more than double in Melbourne airport compared to a Uber ride of about 5 to 6km away.

Paying the uber to collect the car is more worth. Only will just take addition 1hr.

I think not a problem... just indicate when you pick up the car... they can arrange for different pickup and drop off locations...

Oh... whole family take taxi to town to collect car is it? Sounds like a plan... if can save a few hundred dollars from the rental then worth the hassle lar... problem is I don't use Grab at all in Singapore... I think I've ever only used it once in Singapore for an extra early trip to Changi Airport... other time I always use Comfort Cabs using their dedicated app or take from Changi Airport taxi stand...

Does the same Grab app we use in Singapore apply anywhere else we go in the world? Or are you referring to a normal taxi at the Melbourne Airport?

Kia Carnival. Turned out very new only few months old. Diesel. Very powerful with 5 pax and many luggages. From Bargain through economy bookings.com.

Thanks for the field report... this is a bonafide rental aggregator... so must file this away for next trip... so Bargain also good enough for car rentals... I think it's significantly cheaper than the brand name car rental companies like Hertz or Avis...

No.

My trip planning is collect car and travel out of Melbourne for next 6 days.

Then return back the car at same location and spend remaining 3 nights in city.

My AirBnB is walking distance to the main train station there and Victoria  Queens market.

For your reference.

1st image my actual rental for 6 days price in AUD.

2nd image I just did a fast search on the Sixt App with same insurance coverage collect in Melbourne airport for exactly same car.

You can just download a Uber app or DiDi.

My daughter check the estimate Uber ride, estimate about AUD70 to AUD80 for a 25 to 30mins ride from airport.

But I will save a lot on car rental.

Grab is only use in Asean country.

South Melbourne market should be nicer than Victoria Queens.

The free CBD tram is slow. I usually just walk directly.
