How do you measure your 0-100 time on the road?

just checking you measure your 0-100 performance on the road. Was watching youtube and notice many used the speedometer (either video timed or hand timed), i recently realize that our speedometer can be faster by quite a bit as they factory always set it a bit higher (meaning it shows faster than it is)..so you time may look better. My car is almost 10km/hr difference at 100!!!!!! (verified with ODB sensor and GPS). For faster cars it maybe a fraction of a second difference, but for slower cars can make a 2 second difference (like mine slow Altis)

I have tried GPS timing but its not very accurate as it can 'miss' the start. Now using ODBII sensor (android) and the times are very high..so maybe its the most accurate (ODB speed readings are different from what is shown on the speedometer. Now looking for program that can give acceleration curve. My car gear ratio means more zippy at low speed by really drag closer to 100.

Anyone go another way of testing?

I feel that the 0-100km/hr timing just gives you a rough idea how fast the car can go. There are other timings and info too like 0-100km/hr-0, braking distance. I'm not so paranoid and into these numbers, FC included. Coz all these are done under manufacturers condition.

You do not get a prize nor money reward so stop being so boh liao like those ppl in YouTube and get a life. Spend your time doing smth more meaningful.

Use Gtech Pro.

Yes your comments are correct. However, the timings of 0-100km/h and 1/4 mile will indicate the power of the car. For stock car you will know if the manufactuer had over-rate or under-rate the power. If mod car, then you will know if the tuner did a good job or not.

Or for used cars, the 1/4 mile timing will tell if the engine is still having same power as new car or not.

The timings are good to know for you but dan if you are not competing in a race it's only good to you. If you upload into YouTube more ppl will know but it serves little purpose. Probably justify your money well spent for getting faster from 0-100.

Theres a device specially for this

The old thing used for tuning the af ratio is call safc

They Hv one to time the pick up

But I forgot the name

Too long ago Liao

It's the same thing to cut off the speed or rev limiter

I think it's call RSM

Rev speed meter?

Yes Apexi RSM can do this, along with 1/4 mile (or 400m) timing, and other measurements. It uses the signal from the ECU to do the measurement.

GTECH Pro is another device that can do it - this is an accelerometer that you plug into the ciggie lighter socket. Does not depend on the ECU signal, so it's unaffected by changes in rolling diameter (upsized rims) - but on the whole, may be less accurate than RSM.

I measure mine using Defi Advance ZD. Ooh... not on public roads... [:/]

you should trust the the spec on paper ma

if u dun believe bring to workshop

Wow, which dealer workshop do 0-100 checks for the cars they sell? :D Just joking

If the car feels or sounds fast when i drive it, I am happy, don't want the stop watch or actual professional test to shutter my "dream", or illusion [bigcry]

0-100 no use except when stopping taxi want to cut u at traffic go, in gear acc is better as u can cut taxi off

Agreed

But,

I saw taxis doing 0-100 sprints with other cars when red light turned green, so ts needs to find out and prepare his car.

Another thing:- the car makers must have clocked their official 0-100 timings using factory driver trained to do it day in day out, on perfect tarmac surface and wind condition, proper tyres with proper pressure, under most ideal atmospheric conditions, and take the best of maybe 50 trials? not many owners can repeat the official 0-100 although there must also be a few who actually better them [:)]

Which road, what road? Tell me I cc TP.

The question I throw back to you is WHY do you measure your 0-100 timing on the (so conveniently omitted term, public) road?

Are you implying that 0-100km/h on public road is dangerous? :o

There is surely some minor variance in timing but if car is modded or using different grade of petrol, the timing will tell if there is a gain in power or loss power.

We use the before and after delta (the difference) to determine the effects.

It is more for benchmarking. Not just for racing or some stunts that some Bros have in their mind.

OT a bit:-

If A does 0-100 in say 5 sec on public road, B does it in say 14 sec, yes 14 sec! Between the two, if they do it on public roads, who is more dangerous to other road users?
