Need help with car issue(pic attached)

What damage is this? and how much to repair?

 

also, is realignment needed?

 

to add on, there is a pop sound when i turn my wheel in the direction of this damage

 

issue is circled

CV boot cover? 50 - 60 bucks to clean (dirt in joint cause the pop sound) and replace the rubber niah.

 

and 1-2 hours of your time

yeah, CV boot cover damaged, hence grease come out. If lucky change 1 side, else have to change both sides. When turning any sound, if yes may indicate CV Joint failure too. Ask mech to check . As for cost, depends what make

 

My ex-car - Ford Focus : original boot cover is $175 per pc :wacko:

walau.....can change the whole CV joint liao as boot cover comes with it.

honda EK. so should be cheap?

Yr driveshaft inside rubber boot gone liow.

 

Get it changed asap to prevent water n sand fm getting in n damaging e joint.

 

Let mech chk n maybe need to clean n re-grease if its dirty.

 

Same time chk outside rubber boot (cv joint ). If going to spoil then change it too cos labour charge u already pay.

 

Those boot can b only 15-20 bucks each but like someone post his almost 200.

 

Labour abt 60bucks.

Mllcg,this is the Power Steering rack dust cover,not the drive shift dust cover,this picture shows,power steering fluld leaking,need major job,not cheap.

Realignment is sure needed,check the Tie Rod any wear,change it as well.[one time job]

Can't just change the cover only?

If the oil seals are leaking,you need to overhaul the whole rack....if you turn that time got sound,most likely a small stone got inside....let the mechanic check for you.
