Well talking about psychological effort, it appears somehow that SPC pricing strategy has a psychological effect on the big boys...

Because in the recent adjustment exercise, SPC was the only one who decided to raise by 1¢ instead of 3¢, this probably has a psychological effect on the big boys which caused them to cut back by 2¢ within 2 days after announcing the 3¢ increase on Thursday...

:)

That's why I switched to SPC to show my support :)

Ya.. it's psychological.

. like I feel Shell Fuel Save 98 really lousy also, and Caltex 98 is the most powerful.

But can't be right?? Anyway I pump Caltex 98 and SPC98. Pump Spc more as cannot find my ocbc CC so cannot get discount

a lot of research goes into selecting the right additives in the right proportions to blend into gasoline

how much research budget do you think a local refiner has as compared to global mncs?

also don't confuse or equate gasoline blending with refining process

ð¬ð¤

Just curious.

Are there any local refiners here that are not part of a global mnc?

If i remember correctly, there are only 3 separate refining companies here, Esso, Shell and Singapore Refining Company.

Guess where SPC and Caltex petrol comes from ?

Would they be undercutting each other in price ?

Highly unlikely.

Unless you're buying by the tankful (big tanker size), you're most likely be screwed by price gouging.

How is one way to save some money on fuel.

Step 1 : Use a feather duster and clear the dust off your car's manual.

Step 2:  Read the car manual. Look out for fuel specifications or anything relating to fuel use.

Step 3:  Take note on the minimum RON requirement for your car.

Step 4: On the next refuel, top up using minimum specified RON requirement.

I have owned a couple of cars and all of them require minimum 91 RON petrol.

And since the minimum RON rated fuel sold in Singapore is 92 RON, I use 92 all the way.

So far no problems for my car using RON 92.

Most Asian makes require RON 91 unless they are bought from Parallel Importers.

Most European makes require RON 95 and a couple of makes RON 97 or higher.

It pays to check the car manual.
