Looking at the progress of our circle line. I think SG end would need around 6 yrs to 9 yrs to complete from JE to Tuas, depends on whether the rail is above or below the ground. Even going underground, the project should be faster than the new MRT lines as there isnt much high rise buidling above. Sample route (red line) could be something like the map below.

The red line don't look likely possible as it will be cutting through SAF training area and nearby live firing area also.

Turbocharged

Kns...later they say start at SIN first how... half way abort.... nbzzz.... who gonna eat the track for dinner.... [rolleyes]

How is the SG side going to word the agreement safely.

Now we are on friendlier terms.

If one day, quarrel, MY can just shutdown the line and say '"SG is welcomed to take back the tracks"

or worse still, the service terminates at Johor.

And, how much is SG sinking into this project?

Turbocharged

Some speculate the terminal may be at the former Tang Dynasty site or some part of the AYE which will be re-aligned.

But how about JCube, Can they acquire this building and land? Last weekend, I was at JCube and was quite startled - many big name shops have shuttered up. As a mall, JCube is reeling from recent openings of JEM, Westgate, etc.

Siting the rail terminus at JCube site will boost connectivity.

back to the old tanjong pagar saga again ...

the JE station msia side ciq is under whose "sovereignty" - msia?

but i do like the idea of having both CIQ at JE instead of 1 on each border

but we are not Euro leh ... lol

Why not have CIQ in JE for both side?

That would improve efficiency.

With the announcement of the site at JE, it will spell more good news for the retailers, the hotel occupancy, and of course, those bought the condos and flats there...

Prices of goods there will also go up with more crowds expected....

However, it will also mean the congestion will also go up... especially now the congestion at JE MRT is already headache...

The roads there will also be congested, with the increase in crowd ... hmm, more excuses for ERP there ....

Yes, it will be vibrant... but may not be good for relaxation, or wind-down after a hard day work.... I don't think we will want to sleep near to a 24-hour operating environment....

The best is the contract to build and maintain the rail network is given to a foreign company, preferably Japan. If it could, run independently so that when current PMs moved on there will be no politics involved.
