Well that's true. You know how it is like going to EA.

If Im in his situation...I'll meet EA much earlier...propose to pay them "higher service fee" to fully-assess the damages and possibly escalate the findings as well, and agree (in writings) to send back to EA once the assessment is finalised and dealer agrees to pay. Like that, im certain EA will really scrutinise the car closely for damages..as they'll see this as a potential workshop revenue and reports issued by AD...dealer nor bank will want to dispute 'em... The vehicle is 61k km. doubt there is any warranty left. 2009 dec car

My friend, a word of advice. Fourm is a fourm, we are all keyboard warrior. Unless you know anyone from face and in person, take the advice with a pinch of salt.

In the end, it is your money that is going out. Not mine or his. If you feel that the car is not worth effort, just walk away. $999 desport is a small amount compare to the headach you going to get if you buy the car.

As a Alfa owner, I wish you could have a more enjoyable time getting you first alfa. The car is a true joy of driving and I hope you can have a postive enxperience driving one and not spend time cursing when the car is at the workshop.

There are a few longtime alfa owner in this forum, Toey, Felipe, FTCO, to name a few and their advice can be more constructive. Peter is another one that I trust. He don't not just repair alfa but one that has a long history with the make.

If I can be of any help, I am always a PM away and if time permits, I can always take a look of the car for you. My work place is only 5 min away from EA, so you can ask the dealer to stop by my office.

PS, if your heart you have already decided not to get the car, just tell the dealer and walsk away. Don't waste more time (your and the dealer) trying to find an excuss to not buy the car. Remember, it is your money.

Cheers

Will be sending to EA next week. The dealer seems to be frustrated to encounter myself as a customer

The dealer has some serious attitude problem which is the 1st reason why we decided to walk off. My friend was 80% interested but his attitude ruin everything.

Bro just wondering, if your convinced the car is not ok, and doubting independent parties reports, why not walk away? I've been driving Italiano cars all my life, unless you truly love that car and can drive around its faults everyday there will always be another chance around the corner. Matt156C has a point, the amount of repair cash will be many times more then a 3 figure deposit, or a 4 figure deposit, add in the hassle of workshops and travelling without the car is a real pain. Jap eco-boxes are not itlianos, its a marriage between you and the car, and that marriage is going to be tested again and again and again.

Was on the bus yesterday when a super old mini came up alongside

the driver was a full grown man crammed inside a small box

so i commented to the bus driver looks like toy car beside him

uncle said that was his first car

and talked abt all the road trips he took

thn started talking The Italian Job

about how it kick started the mini frenzy

and how in the show

the police alfas cannot do anything about the minis

told him i drove an alfa at this point and he was very impressed

started asking about the drive and stuff

when we dropped off, i pointed out my bella to him in the carpark

very interesting and unexpected conversation!!!

I am pretty sure the 5yr and 100k warranty is only for first owner. And even so, the coverage is different for first 60k and the next 40k. Once past 60k km, thinks like window regulators etc aren't covered anymore.

Second owner onwards only covers 60k and 3yrs.

I think they changed the clause after realizing the contract wasn't clear about second owner warranties. I managed to demand they cover my car for full 5 yrs and 100k and free servicing till 90k km because that clause wasn't stated.

In my case, it became more like car specific rather than ownership specific. So in a way they lan lan had to honour it. Spoke to Dennis nicely, he is a reasonable person.

cos when we are at AS , the dealer bad mouthing saying AS is not professional enough and the error AS people do not know how to erase. Full of nonsense from the dealer

Next week send to EA , show the faults in front of their face see what they got to say? :D :D prepare to see good show

Imo, the AS report is good enuf. I can understand the dealers action coz he wants u to buy the car hence suggesting AS is not gd.

I would recommend not taking to EA coz waste time n money. Most likely same or even worse.

Anyway, if I bring to 3 wkshop, one say bad, I wun buy.

Ok, this is for future buyers.

1) Believe your own eyes/heart

2) STA grading is not good enough. Some B cars are actually ok and some B cars are... crap.

3) I once saw the AA grading sheet before, their system is a lot better. Please use that.

4) AS is also very good for Alfa.
