How do I go about gaining weight?? I've tried with junk food...cheese....butter....all the possible fatty food...but to no help I am able to gain weight...please help with some different options!! :(

Go and get those mass gainers, then build muscles. You eat those junk food you will die earlier.

As for losing weight, let me intro you guys to IRVINGIA GABONENSIS aka African Mango seeds.

I saw the scale at Watson's.. about 80+ I think. How does this scale measure body fats?

can get cheaper. wait for sales at departmental stores like OG, Metro etc.

it is supposed to send an unnoticeable electric current thru ur feet to ur body to calculate ur body fat.

in my case, the % reading will hover up and down within a range +-2%

Those don't seem accurate. Just drinking water will affect the measurement by quite alot. I tried taking the measurement after I haven't drunk any water for the past few hours and the fat % can increase by 6%.

then what the best weight to measure body fat % accurately?

for me i measure everyday so more or less its within 12-14% for me.

it may not be accurate but was said that if u monitor urself daily, more or less its 'around there'.

if my scale still shows me having 22% fat when i have already lost weight...then confirm not accurate!

it depends on your body composition monitor and its recommendations. Two top Japanese brands I know of making these devices have differing timings according to their devices. One ask you to measure 1st thing in the morning upon waking, another ask you to measure late PM before your dinner.

Put on 6kg during the CNY feasting, now back to my slimming program. Should drop all of it within two months with exercise. Anyone keen to join? www dot wellnessfirst dot asia to find out how I dropped 20kg in 6 months the healthy way.

Sometimes the measurement in the morning and at night is different.

My morning measurement is 18%, measurement at night is 13%.

Current BMI is 23.5

What you are doing is really great.

You should give away all your pineapple tarts

and bak kwa so that you are not tempted to eat it.

Just pass to me and I can help you.

Like to suggest reading up on paleo or primal. A few of us here in mcf are on this. Essentially eating 'real' food and lifestyle changes. I lose 12 kg 2 years ago with this and am now stronger and more alert.

You can start reading abt primal by Googling Mark's Daily Apple.

There is also a topic discussion here which started it all.

Happy Chinese New year !

Hey, bro many thanks for the extra info. Looks, like I'm on track to ideal weight by year end. [:)]

Updates.. Weight dropped from 70.5kg on 13th feb to 66.8kg as of this morning.

It's strange, my weight can increase one day, then drop the next.

Been eating less carbo now, with a combi of the following:

Mon, wed, fri: 6 sets of 22 burpees, each set lasting 1 min with 1 min break in between. After the last set, my heartbeat rate is about 155bpm to 160bpm max.

Tues, thurs: 4 sets of 5 chin ups

Sun: 5km run, my latest time taken was 25min (down from 27 mins when I first started in feb). About 160bpm. Rest for 5 min, then do 3 sets of 20 sit-ups.

This week has been bad, been only doing chin-ups as I was sick. No cardio workout at all except for Monday. Hope I can at least maintain my fitness.

Question, if I want to retain my current size but have a more defined and toned chest and arms, should I do more sets of lower number of reps, or do 1 set with the max number of reps till I cannot take it? Not looking to become very big, but something like Stephen Chow or Bruce Lee kind of physique.

And ya although I lost weight but I don't see any difference. My tummy is still there and it didn't seem to reduce.. What should I do to focus the fat burning in the tummy area?

congrats on your progress. i managed to drop a few kilos myself too.

As for weights, i would just stick to 5 sets of 10-12 reps each. just make sure the resistance is high enough for you to complete the reps but really struggle for that last couple of reps.

i dun think u can just focus on the tummy. Best way is to watch what u eat and maybe do more running. try a 45mins session 3 times a week.

J, the tummy fats will be the last to go. You can diet like crazy and get really lean throughout but the tummy area will always be the last to go. Sucks that we're built this way

that's true.

even when i was 10% - 12% bodyfat with 6 packs, i was still spotting some lower tummy fat. Then again, i was also eating junk food every now and then.. But i love my food so that bit of fat was acceptable to me.

bottomline: eat as clean as possible and do as much cardio as possible and you will lose all the tummy fat

thanks B for the info.. looks like i'll just have to be patient then. the tummy fats are really a turn off now.. it's not like i want to flat washboard kind.. only want it such that when i sit down instead of 1 flat blob i could have multiple smaller "layers" if u know what i mean [laugh]

will those tummy fat burning pills from watsons help? in conjunction with my continued controlled diet and exercise?

thanks for the tip!

i can do about 4 sets of 5 chin-ups only.. upper arm strength is not really my forte. really need to increase the reps portion.

if i just do 10 reps 1 shot, i can manage 2 sets only.

u can mix it up with using machine pulls so that u can do more sets or reps.

if not then just do as much chin up as u can and u will see yourself improving.

as for pills, it's best not to use it. especially those that are sold in watsons, guardian type
