That said, the right comp set in Singapore for a 7 seater mid-sized SUV are (all around +/-10% of price in global markets of US, Australia, Canda) :-

In the mid-sized space, Honda rep (Pilot), Toyota's rep (Kluger/Highlander) and Nissan's rep (Pathfinder) are all not sold in Singapore.

 

X-Trail, CR-V, Outlander are from a class down, from the compact SUV class. 

 

CX-9 is a beautiful car, and I would probably go for this rather than a Discovery Sport.  Not sure if I would pay 30-40% more than a Sorento given the global prices, but to each his own in that regards.

It is sold as Volkswagen Teramont in China. Have seen it in Fujian and Shanghai, good road presence. A bit squaish or boxy.

CX9 price will be above $200k as there will be in $20k Ves surcharged....too expensive. While all 2.5L car models will increase by $10k due to Ves.

Went to see CX9. AWD $209k, FWD 190+k. It has good quality interiors, doors are heavy like conti. Third rows have good space, much better than Nissan Xtrail and MIT Outlander. And with the third row up, the boot still have reasonable space.

 

The third rows are relatively easy to get into as well which is good. If looking at 7 seater SUV, If choosing between Land Rover Discovery Sports, Sante Fe, Sorento, Honda CRV, which has price range of 170-220 after the new tax system next year, I would say CX9 with its 2.5L turbo petrol engine vs the rest of 1.5T, 2NA, 2.4NA.. and the quality build will be the best choice

Only the Sorento is in the same category bro. The others you mentioned are all one category smaller.

 

I really like the CX9. Refinement about on par with Sorrento. Think cx9 looks better than Sorrento though I slightly prefer diesel for big suv. Tough choice.

 

Land Rover is the worst. Premium price and Perodua quality interior plastics.

I suspect LTA is going to reverse the charges on diesel tax on private cars very soon.. if choosing car at this moment, must be prepared to pay more for Road tax is choosing a diesel.

Ya if limited to petrol and want a proper 7 seater, think the CX9 is clearly the best choice in this space. Would be interesting if Subaru brings in the Ascent as well.
