Aimnfire 4th Gear February 6, 2013 Share February 6, 2013 well if you got money to throw by all means go to private hospital just like buying cars (as we are in car forum) you got money go for higher brand but when the higher brand breakdown the cost will be much much higher same logic apply to the hospital if any complication arise (touch wood) the bill will be a shocker not only that follow up treatment will be under private rate 100% no subsidise so think long term case like my cousin took A class thought of nothing but bragging right then was found out there will be a complication estimate the bill is $150K!!!! no choice got to swallow pride end up take b2+ for subsidise where the final bill is almost 20k anyway nowadays parents kinda show off proud that their kids are born in private hospital as the birth cert will indicate the hospital name well got money no complication why not its only when complication arise that they will feel the pinch on their pocket ↡ Advertisement

Private at most only a few thousand more. Its more for convenience. I chose TMC cuz my wife prefers one of the gynae there and it is close to my house. Easier to go for appointments. Ivan_06 5th Gear February 7, 2013 Share February 7, 2013 Seems like no one talk much about The Private Suite in KKH. All my 4 kids were delivered in KKH under this service package. Can't remember the price as quite long ago, but cash outlay not much, like <$2k, though is considered private hospital equivalent. KKH actually allocated a big nicely done-up self-contained space for the service, with big lounge area and free coffee machines for the comfort of those who have to wait a while. Basically your appointed gynae should be able to see you in 1 of the rooms there at the time slot you choose and almost all the procedures are available in the Private Suite. The ultrascan machine also available in the rooms so you do not need to travel here and there. The nurses stationed there were also trained to greet people nicely and provided very good service, not the kind you see in normal wards if it is the right words to use. And you will have priority to collect medicines from pharmacy without having to wait much, always being the next or next next. I remembered at times I felt very paisei "jumping queue" ahead of all the mass there. And you will enjoy priority also when the big day comes. And the cost was actually not much higher. Just remember to sign up the total package that include all the pre-natal visits after confirmation of pregnancy. I was fortunate to be able to experience the normal service at KKH as the PRivate Suite was available only after my first visit for first kid and I can tell you it was really long waiting game. You wait to get registered, wait to do any procedure, wait to see gynae, wait to do ultrascan, wait to collect medicine, wait to make payment. That is one big reason why people always laud private hospitals as better alternatives. I will not hesitate to recommend it as the experience had been wonderful. My wife was seen at TPS - The Private Suite... thumbs up!

I feel sticking to one gynae throughout the pregnancy is better. Any problems the doctor will know. If keep changing gynae harder for them to track. Till 1 month before due date, then go for package like Private suit ... izzit able to appoint fix doctor ?? Like that might as well just get the subsidized one already. Wait till the last 1 month no point sticking to the same doc if previously always different doc. Especially if delivering, sometimes if the doc not available also end up is another doc delivering ma. Probably depends on whether your wife is comfortable with seeing a different doc each time she goes for a checkup.
