Altivo 3rd Gear February 4, 2013 Share February 4, 2013 (edited) Likely it's more due to PD rather than hospital that the 2 boys are given different treatment. my children are delivered in Mt A , but i go to Raffles for PD visits. Mainly because I want to get them jab with MMR separately. Aniway emergency , i will go to Raffles because the queue at public hospital is way too long. U r right it is the PD that makes a difference. What I'm going to say would sound bias but I feel that generally, if the gynae/PD is good and has lotsa of experience, he/she would generally be having their own private practice then be working as a medical officer in a public hospital. Of course there would be exceptions. Another thing would be their network of contacts for PDs in various field of specialisation. My friend went to the PD at KK as the antibiotic was cheaper. The medicine had to be discarded every 10 days and a bottle cost around $8 at KK. The same med cost around $16 from my son's PD. So far when there's medical emergency, I've always gone back to Gleneagles and TMC. The Q is much shorter. And at times when my boy needs to be admitted, the "check-in" process is so much easy. Twice, he was admitted over the weekend and the insurance company could only send over the Letter of Guarantee on Monday. The hospital had no problem with that. I remember once my in laws was admitted to TTS and the counter staff demanded that I either provide the LOG or place a deposit using my credit card. They are not sensitive to the distress which the family members are facing at all. It's all about $$$ and $$$. Sorry to hear of your friend's son.. so sad.. the child suffer because the parents want to "save" $$ on medical.. Seriously, i will pay as much as i can afford for my children. But like i mentioned, it's abt the doc. Hospital is secondary.. i stayed in a 4-bedder at MT A for both my kids because it's only 3 days stay. Even if really bad, also 3 days only. Hospital fee only 1k.. but gynea fee is like 3k. *sigh* His fee is on the high side. Each pregancy gynea fee cost me ard $8k easily.. But i spent much more than most parents on my kids jab because they did their MMR with separate jab.. each job >$100 x3 while MMR is only <$50.. Aimnfire 4th Gear February 4, 2013 Share February 4, 2013 correct any complication will refer back to KKH as they have the best equipment (no joke) anyway my wife just gave birth my 4th child on 31st jan 2013 its premature as the expected delivery date was 04 March 2013 but due to she will be having the 4th c-section, the delivery date we opt was 15th feb 2013 unfortunately when my wife when for her routine checkup on 30th Jan 2013 she got to be admitted due to high blood pressure if mother is having high blood pressure - both may die as mum will be fits and the placenta can detach from the baby anyway baby was born through emergency c-section as wife blood pressure refuse to come down with 2.18kg please note you need to fork out cash $500+ if you choose B2+ ward (kind of retard to me as my previous kids was B2+ ward without any cash advance as deposit. if B1 i agree but for subsidise ward need to fork out deposit for what) and parking is no more complimentary of paying $25 for 3 days unlimitted now its max $12 per day at KKH carpark

Epsilon 2nd Gear February 4, 2013 Share February 4, 2013 (edited) Why everybody all paid so much cash at TMC.. My 1st boy I only paid less than 1k cash after medisave and my 2nd I paid about 2.2k cash after medisave. Both are in TMC, 2010 and 2012 normal delivery? 2 or 4 bedded? i paid slightly 4k-5k after medisave for c-sect and wife is staying in 1 bedded for 3 night. Enye Hypersonic February 5, 2013 Share February 5, 2013 wah u mean u all really keep track of the expenses during wife's pregnancy? i was too preoccupied with taking care of the newborns i didn't even care how much i spent on hospital and pre natal expenses, much less to count how much in cash or medisave i guess overall roughly 10k for emergency c section
Vroomtattat 2nd Gear February 5, 2013 Share February 5, 2013 cannot remember how much but the one bed ward at kk was quite affordable 15 years ago. slept overnight there 4-5 nights
Razer_Blaze 2nd Gear February 5, 2013 Share February 5, 2013 KKH Class A1 ward is approximately $8,000. Class B1 is approximately $1000 cheaper. Cash upfront is approximately $4,000. At KKH, if a baby requires special care(eg under weight or premature birth), additional of approximately $400 per night, fully deductable from Medisave. This can be cheaper, just downgrade the baby to a lower class(for eg, Class B2 is chargin $150 per night). At the private hospitals this bill will be around ten times higher for special care cases. Congratulations to you and your wife, I have no intention of ill harm to you and your baby when I mention about the special care part and I just want to be honest so that you can budget properly. Hope you and your family will find happiness and joy with the baby. And please remember to apply for the Baby Bonus and open a CDA account, the money given will also help you in your finances in raising your baby. Hi guy, Need advise on the delivery package that offer from different hospital ... 1)KK hospital 2)Raffle Hospital 3)Thomson Hospital Acutally I am having budget issue if not I will provide whatever I can for my wife to have the best care.... Need to know the price different. She have three sister went through Raffle and amount paid in cash about $7k ... si pei siong sia ... Anyway to convince my wife ???? they always say go KK is suffering .. not wanting the best but reasonable. I dun wan to be like my elder brother stay in private ward then own credit card a lot of money .... stress ...
Crusader75 Neutral Newbie February 5, 2013 Share February 5, 2013 KKH is good enough if your Gynae can deliver there. For private hospitals, avoid Thomson, heard many horror stories from mothers with recent deliveries there, apparently the standard of service has plummeted. On the other hand, Mt Alvernia has many raving reviews but I find it too crowded and parking is a nightmare. My son was delivered at Gleneagles and I am very happy with their service. Like some of them mentioned above, sign up for the maternity tour. Its free and some hospitals give you a goodie bag.

My 1st boy I only paid less than 1k cash after medisave and my 2nd I paid about 2.2k cash after medisave. Both are in TMC, 2010 and 2012 depend on which doc... there is doc at sun plaza.. very cheap.. but he works like a factory operator.. quite a few horror stories i heard already.. but because he is one of the cheapest gynea at TMC.. many ppl opt for him.. If use Dr Cheng at TMC.. is ex ex ex.. :P Edited February 5, 2013 by ShepherdPie
