Mikelcy1963 1st Gear February 4, 2013 Author Share February 4, 2013 I had the chance to change from a set of new GY Excellence to a set of new BS GR90s. Size 225/50 R17. The BS is quieter than the GY by about 2db at 100kmh. But the ride is harder, less absorbent, yet at the same time the steering feel is woolly. Given that the GY is ALOT cheaper than the BS, i would be switching back to the GYs. Oh Ididn't know the GR90 drives so badly. I also feel my ride very harsh but I thought its my car. ↡ Advertisement
XenonWhite 1st Gear February 4, 2013 Share February 4, 2013 (edited) I just changed to BS GR90 from Hankook Ventus V12 Evos that had run for abt 44K Km, and the difference is like night n day... The Hankooks (perhaps used too long liao) were very hard on my bums (jarring ride) n noisy everywhere i went... But after the change to the GR90s the ride was much softer n more comfortable and also more quiet... perhaps the GR90 still new and I'll reassess them after like 20K km... More like one cent money 1 cent worth lor.... GR90 is a Comfort Touring tyre whereas V12 is a Ultra High Performance tyre.. How to compare?? GR90 should be compared to Hankook ME02 instead. To each their own, I would perfer a tyre that is good during heavy rain as I'll continue to drive unless there's a flood.. Comfort tyres might not be good for that usually. Kayaloti 2nd Gear February 6, 2013 Share February 6, 2013 May I ask what basis that you came out with this sequence ? Tohto Hypersonic February 6, 2013 Share February 6, 2013 GoodYear EfficientGrip. I am using it now. Mileage is about 45,000km already and tyre thread is still very good. Tyre is also very quiet even at this high mileage and the grip is decent for a comfort bias tyre. My tyre size is 225/40/18.

Buffy February 7, 2013 Share February 7, 2013 I just changed from GR90 to CSC5 (205/55/16). Had it for less than 1 week. Quite quiet but thought new GR90 is quieter. Good for cruising and rolling along. Thought the grip is smoother as I need to brake a longer distance. Maybe I am a bit gentler with thsi new tire. Cheaper than GR90. Same here. Just replaced my 2.3 months GR90 to Conti CrossContact on 21 Jan. Also outer thread worn leaving center thread still good. Suspect due to rubber harden. I got my GR90 4 weeks after production n rotate every 7K. Actually wanted GR90, but no stock and for 225/55/17 is 290net per pcs. Whereas CCC is 300 n ready stock. So gave it a try. So far so good, but side wall is softer than GR90. Still not use to it, especially during turning.

RedEmber 1st Gear February 8, 2013 Share February 8, 2013 (edited) I'm using Toyo Proxes C1S on my Teana. Good balance between grip and comfort. 215/55/R17 abt $200 each. used for 20,000km already. gone up to 180kph on NSH extremely stable. Previously on CSC 3, good grip but the noise is terrible and ride is quite harsh. Edited February 8, 2013 by RedEmber
