Deposit cheque to wrong bank

If nothing happen, ask the cheque issuer to cancel that check and issue you another one.

yeah, happened once too, dropped a cheque meant for POSB into UOB one night. Lucky i wrote down details of the cheque somewhere (Cheque no.), so i just wrote a note on a piece of paper (with my contact details and the cheque info) and dropped it into the cheque deposit box, asking UOB to return me the cheque

 

All went well.

 

Note: some times this could happen especially when the two banks are close to each other. This happened at Tg Pagar - ok, still need to walk abit from one bank to the other, but it was late at night

I think I'm gonna open an account with OCBC. They are so good. They actually process the cheque for me. Its now reflected in my POSB ledger account. Kudos to OCBC.

The same OCBC bounced back my cheque when I missed out the 1st 3 digits of my acct number which corresponds to the branch and yet they can contact me despite "not knowing if the cheque belongs to me"....

Like I said go back to the branch and collect it back lah. Aiyo...

Sometimes maybe when write the account number and deposit the cheque that time also dont know it is wrong.
