Interior is more on "classic" style. The head light style is more like C class. Hope that atleast MB does not standardise their lights like their arch rivals!

Maybach is sunsetted, so some of its design touches would be infused into the S class to compete with Bentley. Hence, the "different" look.

Maybach itself was outdated the moment it was launched. It was based on the 1990s W140 S-class, just extended and modernised with W220 bits. Anything that MB develops from scratch today would easily be better.

 

Autocar also speculated a spiritual successor for the Mercedes 600 of the 1960s as a replacement for the Maybach...

Oh yes,i remember Mercedes-Benz Army 3 tonner & old Mercedes Benz S.B.S. buses,also using 2 spoke steering wheel,maybe the old designer used to design buses & trucks.!
