Ride getting bumpy

Hi all, lately notice my car ride is getting bumpy too much for my liking. My front bumper is mod lower than normal stock, other than that, it seems to be getting annoyingly bumpy each passing day. What could be the problem? Shock absorbers, tyres, or even wheel alignment/balancing?

Just want to find out what could be the possible cause(s) before i decide to send it to a workshop (i don't have a trusted one yet) to avoid getting chopped. Lots of potholes on our roads today, especially the expressways

Did you Mod your suspensions?? One common cause of bumpy rides is due to the driver cutting and lowering the springs without changing the entire kit [knife]

Just maybe, it could be the road condition itself. Do you drive on the same stretch everyday? Noticed recently that the road resurfacing interval is getting longer and longer all the time.

After so many months of enduring a harsh ride, finally LTA resurfaced the east bound PIE stretch where it splits to KJE.

Can be dampers up lorry or maybe hardened suspension bushings. Ask the ws to check your bushings and dampers when you go for your next service.

Nope. I bought it as a second hand car, and the car is modified. I only know the front bumper is lowered, not sure about the other aspects of the car. How can i check? AD tells me that experiencing bumpy rides is normal because of the lowered front bumper, but it seems to be increasingly bumpier each day the feeling

Yes i do drive on the same stretch of road everyday! And this particular journey has a few potholes and uneven surfaces (from pie pioneer road to bukit batok central)

By the way, how much would it cost to change the suspension, or all 4 of the shock absorbers not including labour fee? I'm driving a Suzuki

No chance of tyres/wheel alignment problem?

i recently also got this feeling for my car. most likely time to change my tyre.

cos when i moved off at low speed on a smooth road, the steering feel is like im driving on a rocky surface.

but once i reach 30-40km/hr onwards, i do not have this feel.

Try reducing the tyre pressure. Recently, find my ride very bumpy, went to my workshop for check and they found tyres pressure is 280psi. Immediately reduce it to 210psi and ride is much comfortable now. Due to CSC5 soft side walls, the tyre shop pump to 260psi or more but I choose to reduce it to 210psi for comfort as per my car workshop advice

A few things that you can check:

1. Is the suspension setup stock? Coilover or lower springs?

2. Check for any leakage on the absorber.

3. Do wheel balancing. You may need to spend abit of $$$ on this.

4. Tyre pressure.

What is your ride? Some ride will be harder than others. Try driving or sitting in other cars of the same model and feel your own.

I agree that our expressway is really bumpy....

When your AD tells you the ride is bumpy because of the lowered front bumper, what he really meant is the suspensions, cos a bumper doesnt make a car go bumpy if the suspension aint tampered with (others, correct me if i got this wrong)

I believe the previous owner have lowered the springs without changing the suspension kit... how many fingers are you able to slot between the top of the wheel and the fender??

Usually its very hard to feel yr suspension getting harder cos its so gradual.

Maybe u just being too sensitive all of a sudden. If suspension is stock maybe u can chk yr tire pressure. Many tireshop or drivers overinflate so car feels more powerful but if too hard yr grip wil b much less.

Follow e recommended pressure n u can adjust abit like 5 to max 10 kpa up or down till u find a comfortable ride.

Sound like your damper gone liow.

Do the bouncing test by pressing down and letting it go. It should bound back to the original height. Else it is time to change your damper.

I am experiencing the same thing.

for me three reasons.

1) Highway now more bumpy

2) Shocks getting worn

3) Wife putting on weight.

:D

the shop tat sells to you is BS... do u hear "tok tok" sound coming out from engine bay when u driving/turning/go across humps? if u hear, mayb is bushings problem or engine mountings... did u ask they make lower ur car is by cutting the springs or change of coilovers? if by cutting of springs dan gd luck to u, cos cutting of both sides can nv be as precise same height... if change to coilovers, dan ask wat is the brand and send for servicing (some coilovers can service only)...
