That's the funny thing.

People always say only buy Japanese used car.

T n H all very reliable one.

Gasket and O ring leaking is a big issue.

Rad cap $10 to replace.

:D

Considered wear and tear for me. Under harsh condition and high temperature, O ring and gasket degraded is quite common.

But SG got harsh condition and high temperature?

Our max speed only 90 kmh.

Our max temp is 36C

Which cars you see got O ring and gasket degraded is quite common?

I want to but for my MIL.

Well, all of my previous 3 cars changed gasket and O ring/seals after crossing 100,000km and they are japanese workhorse cars. My current ride is reaching 100,000km soon and i will keep a look out at my engine bay for any leak.

Can I ask if you always use the same mechanic?

That always do the oil change and change gasket and O ring/seals

for all you 3 cars?

And is it a very special brand of oil that only he sells?

:D

3 cars and Japanese all change gasket and O ring/seals after just 100k.

Something feel very very funny to me.

Neutral Newbie

Hey bros, anyone have any experience purchasing preowned car from Sime Darby Auto Selection? Browsed through SGCarMart and find their price pretty reasonable

Did you always   squeeze your engine power  till the last drop ? I dont think 100k km need to replace  O rings and gasket seal, be it Jap or European brands.

Is it a dealer problem, Citroën problem or both?

Buyer pays $30k for 2nd-hand car but coughs up close to $10k in repairs within a month

It is a 7yo diesel car, no mention of car ownership history like how many owners, might have gone thru several used car dealer. If really it has more than 200K km mileage and not the 100K+ km that is altered, all the wear and tear is about there.

But some of the description had me scratching my head.

....when a fault signal on the dashboard flashed non-stop. After an inspection, he forked out $300 to clean the filter of the diesel car.

This is quite straight forward with the diesel particulate filter being clogged. This can be solved by using a $15-$18 cleaner poured into the fuel tank. I know cos I used it on the company truck(mileage also over 200K km) and fault light went away. I posted in one of the diesel thread.

"Two or three days later, water seeped into the front of the car, and I found out there was a problem with the rubber seal," shared Zhuo. A week later, the air-conditioning unit ran into issues and had to be fixed. But that's not all.

Ok, rubber harden over time, can understand. Aircon never say what issue.

He added that the mechanic also told him the clutch had been replaced before, and that usually occurs after a car's mileage crosses the 160,000km mark.

This Citroen is using the Aisin auto gearbox, right? I dunno what "clutch" he is referring to. Maybe someone can share.

They had just crossed the Second Link when another warning signal began to flash. He stopped the car to do a check and found that the water in the aircon cooling system had dried up.

I dunno what that is. Aircon system in a car not suppose to have any water. If he dont have an OBD diagnostic tool to read what is the warning light I doubt it is about the aircon. Before that he already mentioned about some aircon issue and was fixed.

Hard to say whose fault or who to blame. Old car of this brand, with the high mileage, at this price, I dunno what is deemed as reasonable. Owner also not sure what exactly is the signal fault or many of the issues. I also dunno the mechanic he went to is honest to him or not.

Buying an diesel car and expect the mileage to be only 100k km? People buy diesel cars because their mileage are at least 20k to 30k a year to make sense.

The average used car buyer here only look at price. With 3 years left, at $30K that is depreciation 10K/yr. It is obvious he only considered this and nothing else. Oh yeah, and it is a conti. What most ppl are after. But conti parts are no cheap.

Don’t think I will ever buy a used car from brands like Renault, Citroen and Peugeot even if I have a budget.
