Collected the new car but the new car has yet to be transferred to my name (it almost 2 weeks). is it normal to take this long (cos its done over the CNY period)? It is not normal, your used car could be transferred so quickly, like wise your new car could. Follow up closely with them to find out what is wrong. If it is reputable dealer, then you are likely to be safe, probably some admin reasons. So far I bought 2 from direct owner, we did our transfer at LTA, on the spot. I bought 1 from Fulco, the guy came to my house to collect my IC, did the transfer and number plate retention on my behalf all in the same day except he took 2 days to prepare the rentention documentation in advance. All the best. Edited February 16, 2019 by Ct3833 ↡ Advertisement
Zeagle Clutched February 16, 2019 Share February 16, 2019 On onemotoring web: When you buy or sell a second-hand vehicle, or when a vehicle changes hands, the ownership of vehicle must be transferred to the new owner within 7 days. Is this a requirement by LTA that dealers needs to adhere to? Can i use this to cancel the purchase, return the car and get my old car back with no penalty? Your sales agreement has been signed, your used car has been transferred. The dealer will tell you your car has been sold. The only way out is to move forward, go ask them transfer the new car ownership to you. Ask them why and see what story they are going to spin, maybe genuine reasons. asked them for a date, cannot be 2 more weeks, has to be in 1 or 2 days. Otherwise you will have to be worried. If it really going to be delayed further, that means i have no choice but to wait or is there any other option (cancel agreement, legal, etc) i can consider? BernardPhua_13563 Neutral Newbie February 17, 2019 Share February 17, 2019 I am going to get my first car, and alot of advise shared here has been useful in making me very cautious in approaching dealers. I tried searching feedback for this dealer "Passionate Cars Pte Ltd" but could not find any. https://www.sgcarmart.com/used_cars/listing.php?DL=3277 Another one is "Precise Auto Trading". They have a fabulous car servicing business, but could not find any feedback on their car sales. Anyone has previous experience with them?

Never pop up can be both good and bad. Good - Reliable. Bad - New company and no feedback yet. Anyway just go in with your eyes open and take all the precautions listed in this thread and you should be fine. Car hunting (first car some more) should fun and exciting!

Sharing my experience as I walked this harrowing journey with the unknown... Went to view a used Honda City at Precise Auto.. Though the photo looked damn nice, was told that the car was in its pre-touchup condition. Went to see and lo-and-behold, the photo taking skills really better than photo studio. Has quite a number of deep scratches on the back bumper and one of the side mirror lights. Was told that they will touch up until showroom condition. However, other than that the sales rep was quite accommodating, let me test drive and answered all my questions. But I have one question for the veterans here, i thought under lemon law dealers must give 6 months warranty? they only offer 3 months on engine and gearbox. Also, I realised that Passionate Cars Pte Ltd may be operating under the name of 1st Auto Pte Ltd. Ask for location to view. Googled the address:

Googled the address: when buying an old car, you have to assume that there is no lemon law, if you have to take that route, it will cause you a lot of energy, effort, time, frustration, and even money. If you are in doubt with a company or a car, dont buy. I am not saying all dealers are bad, but the problem is every face is written with the word honest, you dont know who is who. Before you buy a car, the car must be in the shape and condition you want before you hand over any deposit, You have to assume that all the promise are empty promise. Dont be too quick to hand over money, dont get pressurize by sales tactics. My suggestion is, take it as you will buy a car only in 3 months time, take your time to view more car, see more dealers. The more you do , the more familiar you will be with the car you want, and get to see the dealers pattern , know how to deal with them. Make this a learning journey. The more relax and uninterested you appear to a dealer , likely the more desperate the sales will want to give you good deal.

When buying a used car, I choose a different perspective in that I assume all car dealers are bad and dishonest. That way, I will be forced to do my own personal homework and put in my best effort to assess the car condition and make sure that the car I am getting is worth the money that I will be paying. It is better to be safe than sorry.
ntuc2018 3rd Gear February 19, 2019 Share February 19, 2019 I would say, forget about lemon law. They can always blame on other things. Most important is if 1. Leaking or not 2. Mileage real or not 3. Test drive got sound or not If in doubt, always remember, there are better deals other place. No need to pressure urself into buying. ↡ Advertisement
