Jurong Region Line to use Korean trains with emergency battery propulsion.

The emergency batteries  will allow the trains to be driven to the nearest station should there be a power failure, the first in Singapore. The $416.5 million deal went to Hyundai Rotem Co, an established South Korean group which has clinched its maiden train supply contract here.

The Teck Lee LRT will become redundant? So close to one another.

SINGAPORE - The upcoming Punggol Coast MRT station will be developed as an extension of the new Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) campus, providing students and the public with a space for community engagement, research and learning.

Situated within JTC Corporation’s Punggol Digital District, the campus will have the Punggol Coast station right at its doorstep, SIT president Chua Kee Chaing said on March 20.

Was there already a ghost station ready to be activated? Line and station extension construction speed seem quite fast ....

Yeah, Teck Lee LRT station was an white elephant for 12 years and this was in 2017.

And now with the new mrt station right next to it it will become whiter than white. LoL

Poor planning bah?

Looking at the video it even has branch out extension tracks partially built on both directions. Wonder what the original plan was?

IMHO.
Teck Lee LRT would be about 300m from the future Punggol Coast MRT and around it, there is NO housing - maybe like what you say, tear down. 🤣

According to Google it is "temporarily closed". If it had been built in 2002 it is already been 2 decades. A white elephant that is more than 20yo. Wow.

Tear down also need money, bruh. Removing the tear down debris is also another cost. LoL

Dunno what can be done there. The campus might overlap what's surrounding it.

To them money is not a problem, if they want to tear down, they will tear it down no matter how much. 😅
