13177 Hypersonic May 9, 2018 Share May 9, 2018 Jurong Region Line announced The Jurong Region Line (JRL), which will serve residents in Choa Chu Kang, Boon Lay and future developments in the Tengah area, will have 24 stations and open in three phases starting from 2026. The 24km-line, which will be above ground entirely, will also link up to the North-South Line at Choa Chu Kang and the East-West Line at Boon Lay. It will serve commuters living in nearby estates such as Sembawang Springs, as well as upcoming residential developments in Canberra. When the station is completed, another 17,000 households will be within a 10-minute walk from an MRT station, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) said. These commuters will also be able to cut 10 minutes from their journey when travelling to the city centre or Jurong East. The station will have five entrances linking it to new housing estates and an elevated link bridge across Canberra Link for commuters to directly access the city-bound train platform. To protect the railway tracks and running trains during the construction of the station roof, a temporary enclosure was erected to cover the tracks. Even the HSR is in another location, but more people will take train at the current Jurong East station which i really dont know if the station can handle? Like i said, even you see the current capacity loading in Jurong East station simply overloaded liao, esp during the peak hours. Only one escalator going up and down to access one platform which i find cannot handle lo. Dont know how they are going to expand the current Jurong East station since the surrounding is already packed with so many buildings. NSF will still travel on foot to the base of the hill (without full pack and kits), then link up with the maid to "collect" their standard items (machiam replenishment by logistics unit), before charging up the hill. In this way, the NSF should be able to perform better and less risk of heat injury. That is part of 4G (or was it 5G) army strategies... As to improving train resilience, the new network provide "more options" for commuters traveling to some stations (e.g. Choa Chua Kang) along NS & EW line, so that in case of any breakdown, commuters can carry on their journey using the next available line. In a nut shell, something like buying >1 car, so that when the 1st car breakdown, still have 2nd car as back up. Whoa seh.
