Yeobh 4th Gear January 14, 2013 Author Share January 14, 2013 (edited) The next time you visit yr friendly workshop, ask the mech to do a hydrometer test on the car battery. Most of the mech will look at you as if you are a FT from third world country. Even if the mech want carry out the hydrometer test, chances the shop may not have a unit. Mkl22 Supersonic January 14, 2013 Share January 14, 2013 Most batteries are maintenance free and semi sealed. More troublesome to do a hydrometer. Most shops would do a load test instead. I bought a hydrometer so time back and only used it once or twice.
Yeobh 4th Gear January 14, 2013 Author Share January 14, 2013 (edited) Don't try to pry open a seal battery to do hydrometer test. Not the correct procedure. Yes, in Singapore battery sellers loves to sell MF batteries due to the fact they have must short nature life space due to loss of battery water cause by evaporation and seepage via the casing top. Most of the industrial and marine batteries are still the flood type. PS High discharge load test is one of the most viable and reliable test and in case of border line most professional mechs will still like to seek second test readings with a hydrometer.
