Fatal Accident At Bukit Batok Road

To reduce accident is a collective effort between public and motorist. Sometimes especially at night or during heavy rain is challenging to spot a rushing jay walker.

Law is a bit harsh on motorist regarding this. If that driver speed he/she should be prosecuted. If he doesn't I don't think is right to suspend or throw that person in jail.

I agree.

Speeding is one thing but the jaywalker should also take some responsibility for their actions. From the photo, we can see that this accident happened just a few steps from the traffic lights (not even 30 seconds walk away). Why the old lady had to jaywalk, we cannot say but she paid the ultimate price for it.

talk about this!!

on Sunday, I was first car at traffic junction. Light was red, blinking green man already turned red.

waited a while then the traffic lights turned green . . . one old lady immediately stepped off the kerb and crossed the road! The first row of cars all waited but those behind started horning. Then to make it worse, a teenage boy started to cross and one FT on bicycle also rode across . . this 2 no pan chan, the first row of cars started horning the hell out of them. They started to dash across.

KNN red man and green light in favour of motorists they chose to ignore, WTH!!

Old people like to start crossing when the lights turn red but green man not on yet. Maybe she never notice the green man just went off so she thought the cars just stopped only so wanted to start crossing.

bro, i am with you. the thing now in our society is that everyone is simple saying "right" or "wrong". jaywalk is definitely wrong but we need to recognise that there are old folk and we as driver can exercise care and cautious by looking out for the these "vulnerable" group of road user (folks and kids)

i believe all of us have love one that falls into these categories. so lets treat them the way we want our love ones to be treated. i am not saying that such accident can always be avoided or the fault is with the driver but lets all do our best.

i think not they don't like.. just that walking is no longer a easy thing for them.. so they wanted to cut down the distance?

not saying it is right or safe to jaywalk..

What I feel is, not say we don't let them cross, its we want them to be safe.

Imagine a truck is on the left (assuming pedestrian crossing from left to right) blocking right-most vehicle's view.

Then some cock-eyed driver/biker comes along on the right (cos green light liao mar), what happen next?

Who's at fault? The driver/biker, the pedestrian, or the person who let them cross???
