Go run where got bring hp one. I only take 20 bucks with me. Since money is lighter than phone.

Side note , most new cabbies which are younger are cabbies because they probably cannot find a proper job either via work ethics or bad luck , either way chances of u finding a baddie is higher.

Next time I jog or cycle, yes, bring some cash, if possible --- hp also, plus some light weight first aids stuff [thumbsup][angel] Thanks for the reminders

TS is a rare breed nowadays, well done

I have had similar issue with cabbies. Had fallen off my bike badly and scraped my face. Was able to get tissues from security guard at a condo nearby to stem the bleeding and keep it under control so it was no longer dripping. But it was the 7th or 8th empty taxi that finally picked me up to take me home. So frustrating.

Ard 1995, I came across an old lady who fell from the steps on the bridge at Macritchie Reservoir there. She was bleeding from the head. Both a passerby and me carried her to the roadside and hail a cab. The cab uncle saw us, immediately stop his cab, help the old lady to the back seat and drove to the hospital. The passerby followed the old lady in the cab and I went on my way.

There was no hp at that time, no never called 995. The bridge there is pretty isolated, just below Mt Alvernia hospital. Was happy that the taxi uncle more than willing to send the injured granny to hospital.

Sad to read abt ur case here. I think nowadays ppl got no more compassion.

When I go jogging, only got $10 n house key only.

He did call ambulance what. Just that he saw taxi first and thought it would be faster.

As for your question, well, your answer will most definitely reflect the type of person you are.

Can easily turn it around and say, what if that bleeding person was you?

Don't be too judgmental, I'm just being honest here.

It's not as if there is no alternative, even if the person is dying an ambulance with adequate medical care will be the best option.

I guess taxi driver's respond to a young man with bleeding face (fight, rob, been chase, etc) and an old women (fell) is different.

Personally, in this instance, best to call for ambulance and wait with the bloodied guy in case he suddenly goes into a heart attack or coma or something unexpected that a taxi driver, or some of us, not be able to help much.

Society still got hope, more hope than we know, at the very least, TS and his buddy did not ignore the injured stranger, the bro in the hit and run ICA thread offered his cam recording for another stranger driver etc.

Let's not be too harsh on ourselves, there may be just as many good samaritans as there are less compassionate people....guess it's up to us as individuals to make sure our own behaviour does not contribute to more heartless situations....always easier to point fingers but in a given situation, we may not always turn out too nice as well.

Safe ride.....and spare a thought for others.

Cheers

all of the comments makes sense. i guess because the stranger himself told us to assist by means of a cab, that we immediately did so without giving it much thought. my friend was sitting next to him making sure he was ok, but i think because the cab driver was shouting so loudly about dirtying his cab, that the stranger maybe felt he didnt want to be a burden. we were both quite shocked when he hop on the bus ><

i just hope he made it to whever he was going alright. maybe i shove $20 into my hp case next time and leave it there ... easier as emergency $.

It's normal for an injured person to be panicky and behave in an unpredictable manner in a dire situation like this. The best way could be to calm him down and tell him that help is on the way. Of course I know sometimes easy to say on hindsight.

The taxi driver could have been more gracious and offer to call an ambulance or something instead of reacting in this manner, but who knows he might be someone who is struggling to make ends meet and worry about ruining his day (I always try to give benefit of doubt).

Even if not, he would meet his maker some day and pay his dues.

Kudos to you and your friend for rendering assistance!

Happened to me also before running in the afternoon about 12 noon...yes..I was heat training for the TNF100 then..as I was approaching a kerb I saw an auntie walking then suddenly fell face flat on the pavement...I was shocked as she got up bleeding on the nose...and like you I also had only house keys no $$$ or HP...I was able to flag those SSDC cars with learner drivers and they gladly took her in to bring to the hospital...

After she got in the car I kind of feel giddy seeing all the blood...I just slowly walked home after that..

Don't mind if I ask you this, since you didn't mention it, but was the injured man Chinese or another race? Not that it matters to me (or to you, of course), but I'm wondering if it was a factor to the taxi unker.

The one "C" SGreans lack... compassion...

Because all the compassionate ones are surfing mcf, and not on the streets. Let's get outside more often and make ourselves useful in time like this.

There is a heavy message behind this whole episode.

Read the following:

Actually TS could have just called the ambulance with his iphone on hand.

Think about it, taxi uncle busy making a living and cannot afford the mess and time loss for the clean-up, etc.

Maybe another perspective is to ask yourself would you do it if it is your own car?

True, if someone bleeding and ask you to take him to hospital with your own car, maybe many people also react the same as the taxi driver. But somehow dont know whether it is really true that the society have become like this so selfish, or could be TS sway just happen to encounter such selfish taxi driver?! [:/]
