Wax after every wash?

I used to do grooming frequently in the past and this is my analysis...

Lets say the shine on a brand new car is 10/10.

If you groom your car regularly, after 3 years, your shine will be 8/10.

if you dont groom regularly, lets say just wash the car yourself once a month, after 3 years, the shine will be 6/10 to 7/10

so there is actually not much use spending so much time and money on detailing

My previous car after 9 years of self maintain, the shine is still 8/10, quite deep gloss under the sun...

I use ArmorAll Extreme Shield Wax, it is easy to apply and have a shield that makes the water beads just like rain-x (I enjoy seeing the rain drops becoming so small on my metal). Theoretically it should make it also easier to remove dirt in every car wash. Will also try out next time those other brands and see.

IMO no need to spend too much on grooming, especially no need to ask others to groom the car and waste the money. It's either don't do it or DIY. Only with DIY then with the sweat you will appreciate the results more. Ha.

I find it a waste of money to sent for glooming for small hatch.

It's important to use a dedicated car shampoo like Optimum Car Wash as it is gentle on the paint whilst removing road dirt and grime.

Using something like dish washing liquid would strip off wax you've applied as it is harsh and designed to remove oils and grease. So in this case you would need to apply some sort of protection EVERY TIME you washed your car, so should be avoided.

After a regular wash with car shampoo, using a quick detailer with wax will top up the existing protection you have and add some extra gloss.

A carnauba based wax you should only need to apply after every 4-8 weeks whereas a synthetic sealant should last 3-5 months before you need to reapply. This is shorter than other places as SG is hot and humid, stripping away protection faster than dry and cooler climates.

Sometimes after wash, I use Soft 99 wax, those that are in round cans.

Usually get them from SPC stations. Lately, the SPC stn that I usually go seems to have dropped this item.

I went to an Esso stn and they only have the product below. It just says polymer sealant. No wax mentioned!

Is it ok to switch to this DIAX product? also made in Jpn.

Hi,

Try using the Sonax Xtreme Brilliant Shine Detailer (BSD). Although a quick detailer by name, it acts more like a quick spray on sealant giving the insane beading properties and paint protection that most expensive paint protection systems do. The downside is it only lasts for 1-2 months which is still very decent for the price and does not give off a slick feel that traditional waxes do.

Application is simple: Choose to use on a already dried car or even on a wet car after shampooing. Simply spray sparingly and wipe off with a clean microfiber cloth. All it takes is an additional 10 mins.

Use it on the paint, glasses avoiding the front windscreen, plastic trims and even wheel rims.

Happy detailing,

Sonax Singapore.

i really wish to wash my car every 3 to 6 months.

Its a tiring chore to wash 2 cars at the same time.

Me and and wife's peugeot are of the same color. both shark grey but I can say is that when it rains, the door will have a lot of water mark.

Apart from that its ok
