Vulcann 6th Gear January 4, 2013 Share January 4, 2013 how far is the falksland from britain?!? i think this last relic of the empire should go They were caught off guard the first time but managed to repel the Argies at quite a high cost in terms of aircrafts, ships and personnel so likely they would have beefed up the place to prepare for another possible invasion. In any case the residents though needing Argentina for supplies and everything else for sustenance prefer to live under the British Crown from some survey done. ↡ Advertisement

Happily1986 5th Gear January 4, 2013 Share January 4, 2013 They were caught off guard the first time but managed to repel the Argies at quite a high cost in terms of aircrafts, ships and personnel so likely they would have beefed up the place to prepare for another possible invasion. In any case the residents though needing Argentina for supplies and everything else for sustenance prefer to live under the British Crown from some survey done. The psychological war in 1982 was won by the Brits way before the a/c carrier steamed into the theatre. albeit one sheer dint of an effort, they had to hastily recall the planned retirement of Avro Vulcan bombers originally meant to carry nuclear payloads. Two crews with 2 Vulcan bombers were activated for the long range bombing mission and the entire airborne tanker fleet of the RAF was activated for the mission just so that the sole Vulcan bomber (one was a premptive backup) could make it to the Argentinian mainland. The very idea that the Argentinian mainland was within strike range with or without naval air power projection dealt a crushing blow to the Argentinian stand circa 1982. Donut Supercharged January 8, 2013 Share January 8, 2013 UK PM Cameron already said in media that they will defend the Falklands even in militarily. So they are prepared to go to war again, if needed. Anyway i watched a Nat Geo channel recently on the Falklands War. Argentinan Sky Hawks managed to sink the Brit Destroyer Conventry. Kudos to Sky Hawks......... ↡ Advertisement
