Mona-vie 1st Gear December 31, 2012 Share December 31, 2012 (edited) Something is very wrong with the system........ They say its to control car population blah blah..... However, I still experience jams like nobody business everyday........ I don't mind paying even $100-$200K for COE if it helps to clear up the roads.. But whats the point of paying so much if roads remain so clogged up everyday??? Others don't have COE, also jam up. We have COE also jam.... Well, its high time for LTA to do something to really reduce car population. Btw, one very good suggestion is that COE has to be paid up in cash. Not lump together with car installment. No $100K for COE? Don't get a car, simple as that. Edited December 31, 2012 by Mona-vie ↡ Advertisement

Silver_blade Turbocharged December 31, 2012 Share December 31, 2012 Do you seriously think any gov will 'marginalise' the greater population in favour of a high COE and no jam for the richer ones? Moving to a place nearer to our work place may be a easier 'solution'.

Silver_blade Turbocharged December 31, 2012 Share December 31, 2012 this is the exact aim of Sg gahment leh. or u tink ~$100K COE still not high enough? Exactly. $100k COE already 'marginalise' quite a lot of people. TS was suggesting $200k. That will marginalise even more and they will stand to lose more support in GE
Darthrevan Supercharged December 31, 2012 Share December 31, 2012 thats probably because most people are going to the same place at the same time..perhaps u can plan ur routine differently or go to places less traveled to reduce frustrations of this sort..if u check the google maps at the moment..u'll find that most roads are severely underused..barring city areas
Philipkee Twincharged December 31, 2012 Share December 31, 2012 Out of curiosity, if every singaporean from 21 one years old to 65 is granted one COE, would it be too much? Assuming they can choose if it be a car or motorcycle. Cos voting population is two million plus. Take awayt the elderly maybe two million. We already have one million cars and dunno how many motorxycles. Consider goods vehicles also. COE TIED to IC so no one can own two vehicles at the same time. You want a bike u cannot have a car. Want the car, sell ur bike then use COE FOR THE CAR. The COE price can be 10,000 dollars for 10 years. F ur son is eighteen, sorry no car for him unless mother or father uses his entitlement to buy. 21 to 65 shoud be about 2 million. Some cannot afford. Lets say 500,000 1.5 million vehicles too many? We have about 1 million cars now ad dunno how many motorcycles already. No one can have multiple vehicles. No one should sell COE entitlement cos if vehicle is purchased with mr x coe, any accidents ir traffic offenses will be his responsibility even if he buys for his friend. Philipkee Twincharged December 31, 2012 Share December 31, 2012 Too add, if foreigners want to buy the car, simple. A quota of 10 cars can be made available to them. The COE FOR THEM will shoot sky high. Not happy? Get citizenship or STFU.

Bigbadguy 1st Gear December 31, 2012 Share December 31, 2012 The problem is most of the COE falls to cars purchase from 2005-2008, Only when those cars are scrape then the road will be less crowded.
